Prague Green City Guide

Prague Green City Guide The first sustainable travel guide to Prague. Prague Green City Guide is the first green guide to Prague, published in December 2016.

“I started composting a few months ago to avoid producing more organic waste. I keep things in a container in the freezer and then drop it off at the nearest composting station like this one on the back of the Klubovna cultural center. If you want to collect your organic waste but you're not sure where to drop it off, Kokoza has a map with composting stations and community gardens around Prague, so go check it out!

This will be my last post for this series! I got the Prague Green City Guide a few months after I moved to Prague and it's helped me discovered so many great spots, from zero waste shops to local cafés and traditional food markets. I'll continue my journey to a greener lifestyle in Prague and Lisbon, so see you around.”

“Have you been to Meet Factory yet? I was there recently for a flea market and they had so many cool things, from vintage clothes to roller skates! Besides the market, they also had a cafe, an art exhibit and a little corner selling vegan treats. They host these markets regularly as well as several music gigs, so it's worth keeping an eye on their agenda!”

“Spotted this amazing collection of cacti at the Garden Centre Chládek in Prague 6. I discovered this place a while ago, and it's huge! You can get all kinds of plants and gardening supplies here, as well as home decorations. They even have a small café with a terrace, which sells a variety of cakes and light meals. There are only two trams that come here, 1 and 2, but it's definitely worth the visit!”

“Last week, I went to Divoká Šárka, for the first time. One of the best things about living in Prague is that you're never too far from nature. There are parks all over the city, but this place is so much different. There's a lake, a swimming pool surrounded by hills and lots of hiking trails to explore. Hop on tram 20 from Malostranská and you'll get here in 30 minutes!”

“If you're looking for a hidden garden in Prague head to Cukrárna Alchymista. This small café serves homemade cakes that are both delicious and photo-worthy. The menu includes gluten-free options and a variety of coffee drinks both hot and cold. Oh, and there's a mini coffee museum next door!”

“If you're looking for a good tea house in Prague, I would recommend Dobrá čajovna near Wenceslas Square. There are several rooms inside, but when the weather is nice you can grab a seat in this colorful patio! They have teas from all over the world and veggie-friendly snacks 🍵🥬”
