Look who is here! Mercedes-Benz W120/W121, commonly known as the “Ponton”. This particular model was produced between 1953 and 1962 and became iconic.

In 1956, a group of German tourists drove a Mercedes-Benz Ponton from Stuttgart to Prague on a cultural road trip that was later documented in German travel magazines. Despite Cold War tensions, Prague was a popular destination for Western Europeans fascinated by its architecture and cultural history, and the Ponton was praised for its exceptional comfort and reliability on long continental journeys — especially on the winding roads leading into the historic city center.

So in a way, the Ponton wasn’t just a car — it was a quiet ambassador of post-war European travel and unity.
