Kelner Family

Kelner Family 1820s give 1st records of KELNER's in Lublin ie family of Leyzor & Golda. Possibly all following are their descendants. Lazor married a woman named Sara.

While we trace from their grandson Yankiel/Joseph Kelner, we welcome contact from any 'Kelner' with ancestry in the Lublin region. Based on shared family knowledge and the Jewish Genealogy website I believe the following.... corrections and additions are welcome...

Sometime in the middle 1700s there lived a man named Wolf was born, perhaps in Lublin but if not definitely in a

nearby area. There is no way of knowing if he used a surname. He is married to Ester (b 1756 to Chana & Layzor, d 1831, Lublin) We don't know about other children but some time between 1776 & 1784 they had a son called Lazor. They had at least 2 children. One was Chaia/Chana born about 1806, (7 January 1828 m Mortek Eychenbaum). Another son David was born in 1817 ( d 1838). However Sara died - perhaps in childbirth with David, as by 1819 Lazor has a new daughter Faiga (d 1829) with a different wife Golda Etta (her parents were Zysla & Yankiel Burak). By 1826 Lazor is using the surname Kelner/Kielner. He and Golda now have an addition son Wolf Joseph (m 1849 to Cryla Zygielwax, d 1887). Also Mendel (m 1851 to Ewa Rosenbuch). Another child Judka Hersz dies aged 10 months. More children follow:-

NOTE ONE: Yankiel Kelner: Yad-VaShem: http://www1.yadvashem.org/about_holocaust/index_about_holocaust.html Document 121 (Protocol Judenrat meeting March 31, 1942) where Kelner is in charge of Registration and Information. During a visit in Lublin (1998) Zvi heard that he was shot in Majdan Tatarski later that year. (There is a testimonial at Yad VaShem which says he died 1941 Majdanek – but that doesn’t check out. NOTE TWO
Joseph Kelner was at one stage a water carrier. He later apparently had a fuel (naphta) depot on Bernadynska Street- Opposite a Brewery (no longer there. They lived in a flat at Rynek 5. Bell Cooper (nee Redelman) left Lublin at age 3. She often mentioned her only memory from her Lublin home was the smell of petrol from a petrol pump. I don’t think she realised this was her grandfathers business. (Andrea)

NOTE THREE
Rynek street, where the family lived in Lublin…...
The houses and street where the much of the family lived close to each other, are still there. Shya Redelman and Zvi Harel both visited in the 1990s and have photos. Miriam Syber visited in mid 2007 and Moishe Syber in 2009 (grandchildren of Bell) HAS ANYONE ELSE VISITED???? New information from the 1839 Lublin Residents Book has the family living in House no 226- address to be identified.
