Brian Chesky, zakladatel firmy zprostředkující pronájem soukromých ubytování, odprezentoval v Los Angeles novou službu s názvem Trips, která má místním obyvatelům dát možnost, aby za peněžní odměnu sami nabídli cestovatelům své znalosti, zkušenosti, práci nebo zábavu a vyžití. Chesky uvedl pro lepší pochopení konkrétní příklad: Vězeňskou celu Nelsona Mandely může navštívtit kdokoli, ale „Trips" mají dát lidem možnost, aby se jejich průvodcem stal přímo vězeňský dozorce, který sám Mandelu hlídal.

Společnost, která se prosadila službou na pronájem volných bytů cestovatelům, věří v novou expanzi.

With more than 650.000 visitors as of end of October, ZOO Zlín broke its record and ranks Nr. 2 of the most visited ZOOs in the Czech Republic. First position it takes in its self-financing ability, as it operates by 86% with own funds, without the necessity to increase the entrance fee or introducing a parking fee.

A new concept called Karibuni shall offer on twenty acres a unique environment, the experience of riding in boats and trucks or sleeping in the African camp. "At six hectares created by 2021, one of the largest exhibitions for elephants in Europe shall be built. This will allow breeding of up to eight African elephants. The new home may also inhabit the first baby African elephant bred in the Czech Republic, if the insemination succeeds", said its director Roman Horský.

At Essex architecture weekend at venues across Essex on 10-11 September visitors can see another Bata city outside of Zlín, East Tilbury in UK.

The East Tilbury factory employed 3,000 people at its peak in the 1960s and 70s. Czech management moved there, as well as immigrants from all over the world. Some elements of the Bata way might seem intrusive by today’s standards. “People knew if their garden was overgrown they would be pulled into the office and asked politely to sort it out,” says former employee Graham Sutcliffe. “It made them respect the town a bit more.”

A team of volunteers – former Bata workers or retirees whose parents once worked there – will be giving tours of East Tilbury during the forthcoming Essex architecture weekend. Part of Focal Point Gallery in Southend’s ongoing Radical Essex project, this series of architectural tours and talks aims to shine a light on the little-celebrated story of Essex modernism, from Romford in Greater London, to Frinton on its northeastern coast, to Crittall Windows’ model village in Silver End.

To je neuvěřitelné, jak se tento dnes 97-letý pán absolutně relevantně vyjadřuje k dnešnímu dění - v jeho věku, pokud se ho vůbec dožiju, budu tak akorát srkat brčkem čaj...

"Stalo se to před několika lety v New Yorku, kdy přestala fungovat elektřina. Trvalo to několik dnů a mělo to za následek miliardové ztráty. Co se stane s lidstvem, až jednou naše technologie dospěje tak daleko, že bude stačit, aby zhasly počítače? Když to zveličíte a přenesete do celosvětového měřítka, tak my jsme dneska vazaly technologie v tom, že až tato technika jednou selže a ta selže, tak bude konec lidstva."

O prázdninách rádi cestujeme a k tomu potřebujeme nejrůznější věci. Trekové boty, chytré telefony, dokonalé fotoaparáty, funkční prádlo. A tak jsme pozvali hosta, který nic z toho neměl, a přesto procestoval bezmála celý svět.
