Waldcamping Landquart AG - https://www.waldcamping.ch/

This weekend we went to Wildcamping Landquart. While the place itself is nice, the open field where you can just arrive and park was extremely overcrowded. We almost left—until the very friendly reception staff (in fact, all the staff were very friendly) offered us a permanent spot that wasn’t rented this summer, all the way at the end of the site (number 49).

Be aware: the permanent neighbor is a Dutch family who apparently don’t like short-term visitors, so they might complain. 🙂

The site has Wi-Fi and all the facilities you need. We paid CHF 65 per night for two people and a dog. It’s an awesome area for hiking and biking, and we really enjoyed our weekend there.

Nice Parking Spot by the Thur River – Amlikon, Thurgau

Located near the charming village of Amlikon, along the Jakobsweg, part of the Camino de Santiago, this peaceful parking area sits right next to the Thur River. Overnight parking is permitted and completely free of charge.

The area can accommodate around 8 cars. It tends to get busy on weekends, so arriving early is recommended!

It’s an ideal starting point for:
• Scenic walks with dogs through fields and forests
• Cycling or hiking to nearby villages and countryside routes

Whether you’re on a pilgrimage, out for a weekend adventure, or just enjoying the outdoors—this spot offers a perfect place to pause and explore.

🚨 WARNING – Highway Scam Between France and Barcelona 🚨

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a recent (and unfortunately very real) experience from my solo camper journey to Portugal

While travelling alone from France towards Barcelona, about 40–50 km after crossing the border into Spain, Autopista del Mediterráneo AP-7 I was targeted by a highway scam. A car pulled up next to me, and the person inside began frantically signaling that something was wrong with my camper. *an other person in the back seat hiding looks as there is on one person in the car) Since I was pulling a trailer, I thought there might actually be an issue and pulled over onto the shoulder.

As I stepped out to check, the man distracted me, pointing at some supposed issue with a back tire. Meanwhile, the other men opening my camper and taking my belongings computer bag wallet phone so on....
I had the car key in my hand but I hadn’t locked the camper in the rush, and it all happened so fast.

The police later told me that this is a common scam in that region, especially targeting solo travellers and foreigners. Some people only realize they've been robbed hours later. 😞

🔒 My advice:
👉 DO NOT STOP for anyone on that stretch unless you're 100% sure it's an emergency.
👉 Never leave your camper unlocked, even on the side of a busy highway.
👉 If in doubt, drive to the nearest gas station or police station to check your vehicle.

On the bright side, I had theft insurance, so I was able to claim compensation for some of the items. I had to prove invoices.
🙏 Big thanks to AXA and Galaxus—most of my gear was from Galaxus, and their records really helped me during the claim process.

I hope my story helps others avoid the same fate.
Stay safe out there, and keep on rolling. 🚐💨

Camper parking is on the side of the public parking are, walking distance from the bath price is 14 EUR without and 18 EUR with electricity. Lovely place it is on the path of the Jakobs weg, you can walk with your dog in the park even to the Rhein - perfect weekend getaway.
