It seems unlikely, but if you get tired of local specialties, is always a good alternative. At 49Çukurcuma, the crusts are crisp and the ingredients fresh. Pizza Tulumi, which features dried tomatoes and tulum, a salty goat cheese, is highly recommended. For dessert you should indulge in a Nutellasimo—Nutella and mascarpone wrapped in pizza dough and baked in the shape of a giant vanilla kifli cookie. A jazz band plays on Friday and Saturday nights. Created by Chilean-born artist Jorge Selarón, these steps have become the most internationally recognized landmark in Rio after Christ the Redeemer. By covering the 215 steps in front of his house with over 2,000 brightly colored tiles from all over the world, Selarón has created an art piece that attests to Brazil’s cultural diversity.
