"Slant"

For her first institutional solo exhibition in Germany, LIESL RAFF (*1979 in Stuttgart; lives and works in Vienna) () transforms Villa Salve Hospes into an expansive installation occupying the entire ground floor.

Working with natural rubber, light and architectural intervention, she turns the villa into a sequence of navigable situations where perception, movement and atmosphere are constantly reconfigured. Latex functions as both surface and structure, shifting between painterly and sculptural qualities.

Sensitive to light, air and temperature, the material remains in flux throughout the exhibition, producing a changing visual environment.

Rather than illustrating space, Raff actively reworks it: axes are interrupted, sightlines filtered and architectural order subtly displaced.

"Slant" becomes a choreographed shift in spatial perception, where material, body and architecture remain in continuous negotiation.

We look forward to welcoming you to the opening on June 26 at 7 pm. Stay tuned for more information about the exhibition.

With "Attic", the Kunstverein Braunschweig presents the first institutional exhibition in Germany by ANNETTE SENNEBY (*1951 in Gothenburg; lives and works in Stockholm) () on the upper floor of the villa, offering insight into her long-standing artistic practice. Her work operates in the field of tension between painting and sculpture, understanding the image as a spatial point of departure that unfolds across site specific interventions. Through the interaction of pigment, material, and physical forces, processes of condensation, flow, and dissolution emerge, in which boundaries, gravity, and movement are continually renegotiated.

Join us for the opening on June 26 at 7 pm. More information about the exhibition will follow soon.

Two covered Volkswagen Beetles, like the ones that last rolled off a nearby production line in 1974, reluctantly wake up after a night of partying. Parked to the right and left of the staircase of Villa Salve Hospes, they greet us in German or English and offer a few words about what has already happened inside the villa and what is yet to come. Their mechanically recited text quotes publications by the Kunstverein Braunschweig, Theodor W. Adorno (loosely), President Ulysses S. Grant, Norman Rockwell, and the host of a podcast for insomniacs.

Visit the Kunstverein today until 6 pm for your last chance of seeing Nogle’s solo exhibition in Braunschweig.

Make a last stop in the “Slime Room” before leaving “Let it R.I.P.”: An activity station in the room next to the reception desk invites visitors to make slime. D’ETTE NOGLE’s inquiry into the institutional tendency to encourage hands-on viewer participation found its form in the word Urschleim. 150 years ago, on March 4, 1876, a euphoric German biologist named Ernst Haeckel proposed the theory of the primordial soup, a gelatinous substance from which all life originated.
