Our skyline! Welcome to Dresden in East Germany, the Old Town is almost entirely rebuild, the Church of our Lady with the biggest dome northern the alps is only 20 years old, thus it looks originally like the old baroque one (1726-1743). Here you see the Brühl' terrace (or the balcony of Europe) and our river, which the romans used to call Albis- the white waters or the rivers sandy beaches back then.

Not far from the city centre: the beautiful green meadows of our Elbe river! But also in the middle of the centre, right between new and old town, you find a green oasis of endless graslands withinthe centre Dresden. Dresden is one of the greenest cities in Germany!

Flea Market on Saturday in Dresden is a great thing to do during this time of the year! Every Saturday at the natural habitat of the beautiful Elbe river! This huge flea market takes place every Saturday from 8am to 2pm (some of the stands close latest until 4pm). Food and drinks are available too! Bring cash and start negotiating!

This years German Hostel summer meeting in Salzburg, Austria at the fantastic with our very outgoing und friendly host Philipp! We also met our hostel friends from , Germany; Hostel Dresden, Germany; Hostel in Winterthur, Switzerland; in Marburg, Germany and old hostel friends from Munich! We enoyed beeing tourists ourselves, having many good beers of course, watching Pingu at the hostel bar after 5 days of 80 km hiking and sightseeing and learned a lot about the alps weather phenomena! Thank you Salzburg! We will be back!

Thursday’s activity was a visit to the 𝐅𝐫ü𝐡𝐣𝐚𝐡𝐫𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐭!

We got to enjoy the beautiful weather with live music in the background, rides and stalls to keep us entertained. Items were bought, sausages were eaten and a lot of memories were made ☀️🌱🌷🌸

Visit the 3 Elbe Castles, a foot walk away from the Neustadt/ in is a beautiful sight! From the Ligner Castle you have an amazing view to the river valley, the vineyards, the steam boat fleet of Dresden, the natural habitat of the Elbe meadows and the Blue Wonder Bridge and the Dresden TV tower and the old town... from here you can see everything. The entrance to the 3 castles gardens is free as well as the view point. You can visit a beergarden there as well and the more fancy restaurant, away from the tourist masses and city stress.

One of the most famous and exciting trips around Dresden is definitely a visit to Saxon Switzerland National Park 🏞✨

Just about 45 minutes from the city, this place feels like stepping into another world. With its impressive towering rock formations and breathtaking views, it’s easily one of the most beautiful landscapes in Germany.

Together, we explored the iconic Bastei Bridge and enjoyed a scenic circular hike surrounded by nature. The route isn’t too difficult, but it’s incredibly rewarding, fresh air, stunning views, and great company along the way.

If you’re in Dresden, this is something you truly shouldn’t miss.

A big thank you to all the amazing guests who joined us, you made this day trip unforgettable! 🫶

One of the first this year took us to the Elbe Castles and further to the cable car railway down to the river Elbe and across the famous bridge "Blaues Wunder". What a beautiful spring day. We are looking forward to discover with you 🥰
