With the heartfelt commitment of our new host, Sigi Daman, Wellspring Retreat Center is making a fresh NEW START.

For now, this beautiful place will continue to be the main TEMPLE of Trance Movement in Europe, while also remaining available for other groups and retreats through rental.

We are stepping into a NEW CHAPTER.

To celebrate — and at the same time support the center that has become our sacred space — we are organizing a VOLUNTEER RETREAT this fall.

We begin on Halloween (Samhain), the ancient turning of the seasons: the end of the harvest, and the beginning of winter, the darker half of the year.

Wellspring is a cosy retreat center, that offers space – a sanctuary – for those who want to retreat, heal, reorient themselves and their lives, learn and grow. We offer a variety of holistic treatments, retreats, workshops and trainings.

⭐️NATURE PARK SOUTH EIFEL

Wellspring is located in the Nature Park South Eifel, an amazing forested area with many streams, and home to countless large and small animals.

⭐️COMMUNITY LIFE

As a community, everybody is involved in the workings of the centre. Together we live and work, in mutual support, serving the center’s mission.

⭐️LIVING, WORKING & MEDITATING

You get a private room, and can join all the group activities and meditations. We start and end our days with meditations, breathwork, movement, music, ... and in between there is a lot of freedom to find and choose your own working hours, explore nature, ...

⭐️COACHING

Aernoudt Knecht offers all residents 1 or 2 coaching sessions a week, to help you heal/grow and (re)align with your life’s path. This is included.

⭐️EXCHANGE

Part of what we offer is an exchange, in the form of volunteer work. The amount of hours depends on the package, see website. You work between 6 and 24 hours a week (depending on your package), hours you can spread throughout the week.

The HONEYEES are BACK at Wellspring!

What a glorious moment.... they arrived during the Volunteer Retreat last week, when there was a group of beautiful wonderful people, after we had prepared the new Sunhive. Especially had totally dedicated himself to building a comfortable home for the bees, making all the details perfect. At the moment they are still inhabiting a 'normal' wooden hive, that the local beekeeper used to catch the swarm. It's a very small hive, but they have a queen, and seem healthy. I see them fly in and out of the hive all day long... what a wonderful sight! They will move to the Sunhive soon.

Thank you Roman, Maryana, Happy (Sheila), Monique, Kristina and Meritt, for your love, coöperation and diligence! It was/is wonderful to have you here, as part of the Wellspring community!

The moment of arrival of the bees reflects beautifully how Wellspring has entered a NEW LIFE-STAGE, with a COMMUNITY of volunteers living here on site, and your bee-ingness has been an integral part of that development.

This will be our MOTHER-HIVE. When they survive the upcoming winter, they wil SWARM in the spring, and we can start to expand. In time, I want to have three to six hives of honeybees at Wellspring in the future.

I am looking forward to the NEXT VOLUNTEER RETREAT!

We will welcome a new HIVE of BEES at Wellspring Retreat Center! It has been more than 10 years since I kept any HONEYBEES, and I am very excited!

Next week, during our VOLUNTEER RETREAT (June 17-23), they will arrive!

Nature is the greatest teacher, and I have a thing with honeybees (or they have a thing with me) in spirit. Their life of transformation in the darkness of the hive, connection to flowers, pollination, the sun, living as one consciousness surrounding the queen, serves as a powerful message and teacher (book tip: The Shamanic Way Of The Bee by Simon Buxton).

I have a very special new home to offer them: a SUNHIVE or WEIßENSEIFENER HÄNGEKORB! ❤🐝

This amázing hive, a brilliant design by German artist and beekeeper GÜNTHER MANCKE, incorporating many natural principles like the GOLDEN RATIO (prevalent in natural structures, including the growth patterns of plants, animals, and the geometry of honeycombs, creating a harmonious and balanced structure for natural comb building and bee movement), will serve as the perfect WOMB-like home for the bees. It was made in the workshop at the artist village of Weißenseifen, close to Wellspring.

Isn't it beautiful? ❤

At Wellspring we have a more HOLISTIC and SUSTAINABLE approach to beekeeping. As you can see, the hive consists of two parts, two baskets or hives, put together as a rounded shape. Unlike normal angular hives, in which bees are forced to build square comb, at the top of this unique beehive there is a set of rounded wooden planks where they can build their comb naturally, rounded or egg-shaped, focusing on the bees' natural needs rather than maximum honey production. It will be hanging, promoting natural behaviors and improving bee health. The bees can leave and enter the hive through a hole at the bottom, supported by a conical landing platform. The hive will also add aesthetic value, being an attractive addition to the retreat, and supporting local BIODIVERSITY with its presence.

These days I am preparing the hive, doing the finishing touches. In the mean time we are preparing for the upcoming Volunteer Retreat, when the bees and their queen will arrive.

EARTH DAY - Imagine.... if we condense Earth's history into one year.

Each day would represent roughly 40 million years.

The planet began as a fiery wasteland, evolving over months.
Life emerged in late April with single-celled organisms.
Multicellular life followed in mid-September.
Vertebrates appeared in late November.
Life ventured onto land only around mid-December.

Modern humans, Homo sapiens, emerged in the final 5 minutes of the year! Our rapidly evolved neocortex led to unique cognitive abilities like language and problem-solving.

Human art, music and creativity emerged in the last minute!

Recorded language and history, from hieroglyphs to HTML, spans just the last 3 to 4 seconds!

HUMBLING, isn't it?

As far as I'm concerned, EARTH DAY is a reminder, that despite our tendency to view ourselves as separate from nature, we are an integral part of it. The vast scale of time and our relatively recent emergence, shows us that we are but players in the grand story of evolution.

Stay humbled, and always seek a transcendent perspective, as your guiding light. Acknowledge the importance of being in service to the INTERCONNECTED WEB OF LIFE of which we are a part.
