Lindersvold, also called The Travelling Folk high School South Zealand (DRH South Zealand), is working in cooperation with Humana People to People and the DRH Movement. The aim of the school is to educate people who with their heart, hands and mind actively will take part in bringing from those who have, to those who have not. It is about building schools, bringing comfort and medicine to the sick
and giving education, teaching the farmer how to grow more crops and get fresh water for his family. No matter whether you are rich, poor young or old, educated or uneducated does not matter, as long as you have the will to make a difference. Our programs are aimed at people all over the world. We want people who are hard working, that will acquire the necessary knowledge and practical skills, who are flexible, motivated, show initiative, in order to make a difference. AN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
The teachers and students come from countries all over the world, with widely different education, training and work backgrounds. DRH South Zealand is many things besides being a Centre of learning for Development Instructors. It also houses 2 care homes, 1 for adults between 19-29 years and one for youngsters between 14-19 years. In addition we also run a day school for 30 children and youngsters. Common for all these people is that they, for various reasons, have special needs. We have chosen to use our surplus and our capacity for the benefit of the less fortunate in this world, not only in Africa but also in our own country. There are normally more than 8 nationalities in the program at any one time and you will join a small community with very many things going on. To make daily life function in all its details you need to adjust, build up teamwork, flexible, open minded and straight forward. The school is run by teachers and participants together. Each person has one or more responsibility areas. If, for example, you are responsible for the heating, you will ensure that there is always heating, whilst also considering new ways to keep down the expenses and the CO2 emissions. Each responsibility area is to be maintained to a certain standard, but improve and developing your responsibility area is very welcomed. THE IDEA
The Development Instructor program is a unique chance to study and work with people from all over the world. You will get the chance to travel and learn about different cultures and to help those who are less fortunate. In Denmark you will help children and youngsters with special needs and who have had a difficult start in their lives, and in Africa you will be able to contribute to the fight against poverty and diseases. Humana People to People is currently running around 330 development projects in Southern Africa, India, China and Central America, reaching a total of around 11.5 million people. We believe that all people ought to have a genuine possibility to live a good and meaningful life, and we stand in solidarity with the weakest, globally and locally.
