Lindersvold- become an activist in Third World Countries

Lindersvold- become an activist in Third World Countries Lindersvold It is about fighting AIDS, poverty, racism, illiteracy, infant mortality. We invite you to take part in this! All participants live at the school.

Lindersvold, also called The Travelling Folk high School South Zealand (DRH South Zealand), is working in cooperation with Humana People to People and the DRH Movement. The aim of the school is to educate people who with their heart, hands and mind actively will take part in bringing from those who have, to those who have not. It is about building schools, bringing comfort and medicine to the sick

and giving education, teaching the farmer how to grow more crops and get fresh water for his family. No matter whether you are rich, poor young or old, educated or uneducated does not matter, as long as you have the will to make a difference. Our programs are aimed at people all over the world. We want people who are hard working, that will acquire the necessary knowledge and practical skills, who are flexible, motivated, show initiative, in order to make a difference. AN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

The teachers and students come from countries all over the world, with widely different education, training and work backgrounds. DRH South Zealand is many things besides being a Centre of learning for Development Instructors. It also houses 2 care homes, 1 for adults between 19-29 years and one for youngsters between 14-19 years. In addition we also run a day school for 30 children and youngsters. Common for all these people is that they, for various reasons, have special needs. We have chosen to use our surplus and our capacity for the benefit of the less fortunate in this world, not only in Africa but also in our own country. There are normally more than 8 nationalities in the program at any one time and you will join a small community with very many things going on. To make daily life function in all its details you need to adjust, build up teamwork, flexible, open minded and straight forward. The school is run by teachers and participants together. Each person has one or more responsibility areas. If, for example, you are responsible for the heating, you will ensure that there is always heating, whilst also considering new ways to keep down the expenses and the CO2 emissions. Each responsibility area is to be maintained to a certain standard, but improve and developing your responsibility area is very welcomed. THE IDEA

The Development Instructor program is a unique chance to study and work with people from all over the world. You will get the chance to travel and learn about different cultures and to help those who are less fortunate. In Denmark you will help children and youngsters with special needs and who have had a difficult start in their lives, and in Africa you will be able to contribute to the fight against poverty and diseases. Humana People to People is currently running around 330 development projects in Southern Africa, India, China and Central America, reaching a total of around 11.5 million people. We believe that all people ought to have a genuine possibility to live a good and meaningful life, and we stand in solidarity with the weakest, globally and locally.

Fighting with The Poor

Single B-Certificate

(18 months)

What is Poverty? The geography of poverty today was not formed by infertility of soils, lack of materials or inferior ingenuity of people, but by a chain of historic events that take us back some 500 years. Likewise the future will be determined by influences outside the realm of ordinary people.

Through this program we dare to look at the problems and big issues of our present time right in the eye, understanding the forces and politics at play, acknowledging the real consequences of the lack of human rights that are pervasive on a large part of our planet, not just seen from one place but on a global scale. We dare to dream and envision a future for We the People and try to point to modern, lively, inclusive and sustainable ways and solutions.

We will study, investigate, travel and see with our own eyes absolute poverty and lack of human rights and we will realize what this means to those children in poverty, women in poverty, men in poverty... and we will search for sustainable solutions. We will dig for the truth, we will dream, debate, hike, laugh, sweat and be challenged on all counts. We will spread awareness, spreading our findings in speech, in writing, through artistic expression and in lively debate with people and by modern means of communication.

Pedagogy & Fighting with The Poor

Double B-certificate

(24 months)

When joining this two-year Development Instructor program, you will acquire knowledge and experience in teaching, instructing and fighting with The Poor, and train a broad range of practical skills. You will study, investigate, confront and bring to the public ways and means in which ordinary people can and must deal with the pressing issues facing humankind in today’s world.

You will spend the first year on the job, working and training as a teacher or in a Humana People to People second-hand clothes collection, combined with and backed by theoretical studies and investigations of the big issues of our time, how people learn and how pedagogy can be used in the service of mankind.

During the second year, you will be teaching and fighting with The Poor in a third world country in two four-month stints. Back at the school, you will bring your new knowledge and experience to the public, and lastly, you will finalize the program with exams.

This two-year training leads to a double B-certificate, completed as distance learning, from the faculties of Pedagogy and Fighting with The Poor, respectively, at One World University in Mozambique. The program will later be available as a double B-certificate completed as distance learning from the faculties of Fighting with The Poor and Polyhistory.
