One of Denmark's smallest islands, Vejrø is 1.5 hectors and located in "smålandsfarvandet" and close to the island of Fejoe. A privately owned island, purchased by founder and CEO of Saxo Bank, Kim Fournais, the island operates a restaurant, 2 hotels, 4 guest houses, an airstrip and landing pad, organic agricultural production, hunting fields, marina with Harbor Cafe and boats for guest transportation. Vejrø is a place where people can enjoy relaxed luxury, savour the best of life, feel inspired and appreciate the fantastic world we live in. After an extensive transformation, we reopen on May 1st.

Blæsenborg, the restaurant, the harbour and the island’s core facilities are ready to welcome guests again - while a new phase unfolds across Vejrø.

The lighthouse, houses and guest buildings are being carefully reimagined to elevate the experience even further.

We’re pleased to welcome Susanne as a new Director to Vejrø.

After years of building Vejrø into a self-sufficient island and a living system powered by nature, energy and agriculture, we are now entering a new phase.

The focus ahead is clear: to elevate the guest experience, and position Vejrø as a destination where nature, hospitality and thoughtful living come together.

With a strong background in leading and operating a renowned island hotel, our new Director brings both experience and perspective that aligns closely with where Vejrø is heading.

This marks the next chapter for Vejrø - one where everything we’ve built begins to fully come alive.

Meet Steen, Director of Vejrø – a farmer leading the island’s regenerative direction.

Steen has been part of Vejrø since 2022, formerly Head of Operations, and in 2025 he stepped into the role of Director - responsible for everything that keeps the island functioning as a living, self-sustaining ecosystem: agriculture, technical operations, and maritime logistics.

But what truly defines Steen is his understanding of the soil.
He believes in regenerative farming - an approach where you work with nature, not against it: where you create life in the soil, increase biodiversity, and build lasting resilience.

This is the core of Vejrø’s farm-to-table philosophy:
that food comes from the fields just outside the door;
that animals live the way animals are meant to live;
and that nature’s cycles are respected.

Steen doesn’t lead from a distance.
He is visible, present, and part of the everyday rhythm - essential when the team both lives and works on the island.

At Vejrø, we have always believed in working with nature.
