feel a unique experience in the middle of the forest and its sounds, through which, you can find incredible views of the Napo River, observe birds and monkeys crossing, playing and jumping among the trees of the forest that surrounds us. Gaia Amazon Lodge is located in the Ecuadorian Amazon (the Amazon rainforest), one of the most biodiverse ecological zones in the world and with enormous cultural richness. Our facilities, taking care of the integrity of the natural environment, have been designed to offer comfort and an atmosphere of relaxation. The lodge overlooks the majestic Napo River and is surrounded by a forest of cacao trees. The privileged landscape of the jungle, the river and the mountain offers our visitors a wide opportunity to enjoy the nuances of the rainforest from dawn to dusk. Gaia is located 4 kilometers east of the town of Ahuano, between the Napo River and the road that goes to Campanacocha. We can easily reach by boat on the river or by vehicule on the road. By road Ahuano is 45 minutes from Tena, capital of Napo Province, and 4 hours from Quito, the Capital city of Ecuador – South America.

The Kichwa indigenous community is the most populous ethnic group in the Ecuadorian Amazon region and the primary ethnicity of the inhabitants in the area around the Amazon jungle.
They have a profound bond with the jungle and the animals that reside there. Moreover, the Kichwa believe that all humans, plants, and animals have souls and should be treated equally. Plant souls are of particular relevance since a healthy interaction with nature is essential for a community's well-being.
Guides have a high level of respect among the local population, thus their ideas on protecting the fragile ecology through traditional practices such as organic farming and hunting with a blow gun rather than a shotgun (only in regions where hunting is legal) are also well-regarded.
Indigenous peoples are the keepers of unique cultures, traditions, languages and knowledge. Come and get to know all about the Kichwa community!

Our Story

El lodge es un proyecto ecológico de arquitectura única, una singular combinación del conocimiento local de construcción con un toque de confort contemporáneo. Este ha sido diseñado aireado y luminoso con el viento corriendo libremente en todas sus áreas. El complejo está compuesto de una construcción principal con áreas sociales y tres cabañas con dos habitaciones independientes cada una, que permiten ocupación sencilla, doble, triple o cuádruple. Todos sus espacios son auténticos y te dejan sentir en el medio del bosque a través del cual también puedes encontrar vistas increíbles del Rio Napo. En el complejo principal están el comedor, salas y áreas de descanso con hamacas, un bar donde es posible preguntar por aperitivos, cócteles, bebidas alcohólicas y no alcohólicas. Gaia se encuentra en uno de los lugares más interesantes y sin igual en el mundo, el bosque lluvioso de la Amazonía, más precisamente en nuestro caso, en la Amazonía ecuatoriana. Su riqueza, biodiversidad, cultura y colorido hacen de este un lugar único. El lodge está construido sobre una pequeña colina en las riveras del Rio Napo, al mismo que se puede acceder tanto en canoa como por vehículo. Se encuentra localizado a: 4 kilómetros, 15 minutos del pueblo indígena-quichua del Ahuano; 40 kilómetros, 45 minutos desde el Tena; 220 kilómetros, 4 horas en total desde Quito hasta el lodge. Nuestra conveniente ubicación frente a la confluencia de los Ríos Napo y Arajuno, cerca de comunidades indígenas y rodeados por bosques de la Amazonía, nos permite ofrecerte un amplio rango de actividades, combinando naturaleza, aventura y cultura. No hay otro lugar en el planeta como el bosque lluvioso de la Amazonía
