With Ecuador currently on a lockdown and doing its best to contain Covid-19, the Patron Saint of Alausi, San Pedro, is now watching over a much quieter town for the time being.
Our hostel is currently taking care of a few guests who are having an unexpected stay with us, and we are ensuring their time here is comfortable and enjoyable.
While is it an especially hard time for everyone, we must remain positive, strong, look out for others and most importantly be kind. ❤️

Alausi is a paradise for photographers with a fantastic mix of historical buildings, train tracks and the incredible mountain scenery surrounding the town. Its simply a must visit on a trip to Ecuador.
Stay with us in our hostel with private rooms and ensuite bathrooms, just a short walk from the centre of town. We are locals and will help you plan the perfect Alausi visit. 😁

Monday nature fix. 😁⛰️😍🏞️
How beautiful are these mountain views?! These are the views that await you on a visit to Alausi. Just a short walk from town you will be surrounded by nature and views that will make you stop and stare in awe at their incredible beauty.
These photos, taken by , were shot during a hike on the Nariz del Diablo hike (The Devil's Nose) which is a well known hike from Alausi taking you into the mountains and ending at a stunning viewpoint of the valley below. Its a must do on a visit to Alausi if you like to hike and escape the hustle and bustle of a town/city. You will often have this trail all to yourself to really take in the magnificent nature all around you, and there aren't many places on the world left where that is possible.

The train station in Alausi is right in the middle of town. Just a two minute walk from our hostel, you can literally roll out of bed and onto the train! 🚂🚃
Taking a ride on this famous part of the Ecuador rail network, the Devils Nose train ride is one of the main attractions in Alausi. A beautiful two hour journey takes you through the Andes mountains, learning all about the incredible engineering feat of creating switchbacks to enable the train to navigate Condor mountain. It is one of the steepest stretches of railway you are ever likely to experience! And it is also known as the most difficult railway in the world due to the engineering challenges it had to overcome.
A visit to Alausi is simply a must on a visit to Ecuador to experience this incredible railway. @ Alausí

A short hike outside the town of Alausi will reward you with beautiful views like this! Its the perfect place for a weekend getaway with easy access to the outdoors and trails through spectacular mountain scenery. 😁🏞️⛰️
