Perhaps this is an inkling of what Macas' future could hold: a serene retreat for travellers tucked away from the city mayhem. Four balconied rooms look out on a huge fruit tree-dotted garden which falls away towards the Río Upano. The English-speaking owners rustle up a scrumptuous incredible breakfast where ingredients are LOCAL (as in, from their garden or a nearby house). Coffee here is sublimely strong.
