Footsteps from Shangri-La is Playa las Alemanes ( German Beach ), and a about a 20 minute hike to Las Grietas. Las Grietas is a spectacular saltwater grotto with high lava walls that are popular for snorkeling. Being "land based" on Santa Cruz gives you many vacation options.
