We live together for some weeks to months between digital nomads, slow travelers, traveling families and locals. Expect a small inspiring community (5-15 people), local immersion, great internet and work areas, kite/surf, slowing down, back to the essence, deserted beaches, whales,.. while taking steps towards regeneration. *for help with the Niños Libres project ❤️❤️. Monday to friday 3.5h of playing and guiding a group of kids in their freedom, inspiring them with nature, helping them to connect across cutlures, and perfomring small missions to contribute to the community
*for other help in the functioning of Punta la Barca.. especially towards communication, growing the community, both digitally and with events and concious workshops 💕

Why is Punta la Barca unique, a friend asks

It shouldn't be unique, really. Punta la Barca is just.. life, together, from the intentions of freedom, fairness and sustainability. It's really very simple and not fancy at all 🤷‍♀️

We rest. Like really, rest. And totally feel accepted about it 🙌. A month in Punta la Barca puts me totally with my feet and body back on the ground, even after the most moved period (speaking from experience 🤔). It s the magic of nature and slow community 💕

We dream. Aaaah dreaming is so good. Authentically aiming to understand the world we live in, and allow us to dream and experiment for it to always create more beauty

We are part of the village, two feet wide in reality. With all its implications, beautiful and challenging 🔥

We love balance. Together and alone, focus and rest, flexibility and boundaries 🤗

We're just us, simply some people living and contributing to life together. If you're just you too, you'll feel at home, no doubt 🤗❤️

🌊 Do you know Marta? 🇧🇪

Marta is 17 years old, from Belgium, and is currently in her final year of secondary school. She decided to come to Punta La Barca, a hostel located in Santa Marianita, for six weeks to volunteer with Niños Libres and, at the same time, improve her Spanish.

She has always loved the ocean, so Santa Marianita was the perfect place for her. During her stay, she has really enjoyed nature and everything this place has to offer: swimming, surfing, walking, reading, practicing yoga, and discovering new places on spontaneous trips.

What she loves most about her experience is the beautiful beach of Santa Marianita, the peaceful atmosphere, and, above all, the people. At Punta La Barca, she has met incredibly kind and welcoming people who have made her feel happy and able to enjoy every moment of her stay.

One of the most special parts of these weeks has been meeting so many new people and sharing moments that, as she says, she will keep forever in her heart. ❤️

These six weeks are becoming a very special experience for Marta: she is learning, discovering new things, improving her Spanish, and creating memories that she will carry with her for a long time.

La verdad es que será una experiencia muy única. Una oportunidad increíble para vivir la vida desde otra perspectiva. 🙌
No desde el lado de la ciudad, los carros, el encierro y el estrés… sino desde la naturaleza, con la cabeza al viento, los pies en el mar y las manos en la tierra.
No desde el lado de los sistemas interminables y las rutinas que frustran… sino desde la libertad, aprendiendo a escucharte a ti mismo y sintiéndote aceptado por los demás.

Still place in the young adults group this July-August for immersion travel 🙌🔥!!
Join for two weeks or the full six weeks. Also looking for Ecuadorian youngsters to join in the international group 🤙!

What does this look like practically?

*For 4 half days a week, we take you along and you help us out.
*Help in daily life, from making empanadas and cleaning swordfish, to filling the water well, keeping the river free of plastic, and guiding children
*Learn local skills such as making artesanías, searching for octopus, and cutting bamboo with a machete
*Discover the wisdom of community life, and open your mind through campfires and intercultural connection, sleep with a fisher family
*English–Spanish exchange
*Live on deserted beaches, see whales every day, and explore the tropical forest of Ecuador
*You get taken along fútbol, surf, kitesurf, yoga, bonfires..

The rest of the time is free to fill in yourself.

You contribute as a coliver for accommodation and food. The contribution also helps to make projects possible that work towards a more free, fair and sustainable community (like the Niños Libres, Ocean Connection, and other initiatives).

Travel immersion is a structured exchange where the traveler helps in what is needed for the place and the community, and PLB provides guidance and takes the traveler along in daily life. It's volunteering without the white saviour syndrome 🙄😉.

For you as a traveler, it facilitates even more the the contact between travelers and locals, and the experiential learning, life learning, personal growth, mind opening, worldschooling.. that comes from it 🙌
And for PLB, it allows us to work more consistently together towards a more free, fair and sustainable community with the village 🔥

Punta la Barca is slow simple outdoors living together at the Ecuadorean coast.

It has 6 rooms and 2 houses for travelers with and without kids to stay some weeks to several months. There is a system of cooking for each other 4 nights a week that glues the group together, there are amazing focus corners to find your own space, there is a kids initiative every morning for our youngest travelers to join in, volunteer opportunities for those who wanna be more part of the village, and the beach and the bonfire at arms reach.

🎥 conozca el mundo de los Niños Libres 🌱✨!

Hace unas semanes, estos tres niños tuvieron una misión especial: crear un video mostrando las áreas donde pueden estar, jugar y sentirse libres.

Con mucha ganas y inspiriacion decidieron qué mostrar: los rincones donde juegan, los espacios donde crean, los lugares donde se sienten 🤗.. Hasta supermotivado de hacerlo en un idioma nuevo 💪

Así se vive Niños Libres: dándoles voz, respetando sus tiempos, acompañando sin controlar, y parte de la comunidad. 🌈 🌊✨
