New rules for travelers to Egypt
Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, announced the update of the health controls, requirements, and procedures that are applied to quarantine at the country's entry points (air, land, and sea), in line with the developments related to the Coronavirus. Khaled Megahed, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Information and Awareness and the official spokesperson for the ministry, stated that holders of vaccination certificates with the Coronavirus vaccines approved by the World Health Organization and the Egyptian Medicines Authority are allowed to enter the country, provided that 14 days have passed since receiving the second dose of the vaccines that were administered. It is given in two doses (Sinopharma, Sinovac, Sputnik, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna), or 14 days have passed since receiving the first dose of the vaccine (Johnson & Johnson).
Mujahid added that certificates are accepted after reviewing and verifying their accreditation from the issuing country without abrasion, deletion, or addition, and it is also required that the certificate contain a QR Code.
He added that for holders of vaccination certificates coming from countries affected by the new mutations of the virus, additional precautionary measures are taken, including conducting a rapid DNA analysis (ID NOW) for them. Mujahid stressed the continuation of the implementation of the Prime Minister's decision regarding health controls, procedures, and requirements for those coming to Egypt, which is not to enter the country until after obtaining a (PCR) certificate stating that they are free from the Coronavirus, for those who do not hold vaccination certificates.
