What's the weather like in Alicante? What time of the year should I come?

Alicante has 360 sunny days a year. At least they say so 🙂 I think - a bit less. Although still it is a place of half-year-long summer.

Costa Blanca is the wormest beach zone in Spain. Here you can swim from beginning of May till the end of October.

July and August are really hot and crowdy. But still the most popular among tourists. If you don't like high temperatures, better choose May-June or September-October for your trip. Winter months are also quite nice, especially for sightseing and enjoying the city. Even in winter you can wear only a light jacket.

Where to hang out in Alicante?

Following the Spanish tradition, any gathering of friends starts with "tardeo," which means going out for dinner or wine and tapas. The best place for this is Calle Castaños. Here, you'll find restaurants to suit every taste and a pleasant atmosphere.

Not in the mood for a meal? Just want to chat over a glass of wine? Then Barrio is more suitable for you, the area across the street from the Castaños. During the day, it's the historical part of the city, leading to Santa Barbara Castle, and at night, it's the nightlife district.

If you're looking for a real nightclub experience until the morning, head to the port. Here, you'll find clubs. The music varies, and I can often find my favorite, Latin-american music.

Promoters will approach you everywhere, telling you about bar and club offers. In many places, there's an entrance fee, but when you pay it, you get a drink or few shots for free, essentially paying for your drinks.

The exception is the open-air club in the port during peak season. In clubs, the most common drink is "Copa," a simple cocktail like gin and tonic, whiskey and cola, with an average cost of 8 euros. I'd also suggest ladies try my favorite, "Ginebra con Fanta limón."

When talking about clubs, Barrio is a place where students hang out, while the 30+ crowd tends to enjoy the port.
