Fasten your seatbelts.

This report doesn't make for comfortable reading. But it's exactly the reading we need.

Today, UN Tourism and the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF)' launched the Global Report on Women in Tourism Transport — the first study of its kind to provide a global, sex-disaggregated evidence base on women working across air, land and water passenger transport.

📊 In countries with available data:

✈️ Women make up 36% of aviation workers — but just 6% of pilots.

🚌 In land transport, which accounts for 96% of all tourism transport employment, only 3% of workers are women.

🚢 In water transport, the figure is just 12%.

Across every mode, women remain concentrated in passenger-facing and administrative roles, while technical, leadership and decision-making positions stay male-dominated.

For the first time, we have the data to act with precision — not just good intentions. And where action has been taken, it has made a measurable difference.

The women who keep this industry moving deserve to help lead it.
