One statistic about Finca Gran Cerros still makes us stop and think.

Around 70% of this year’s bookings include guests who've stayed with us before.

When we first opened, we hoped people would enjoy being here.

We don't think either of us imagined quite how many would come back. Then come back again. And, in some cases, again and again.

It changes the nature of running the Finca.

There are first arrivals, for which we're always grateful - and then there are those moments when a familiar face appears in the driveway and it feels much more like welcoming somebody home.

To everyone who's returned to our little corner of Andalucía: thank you.

And to everyone coming for the first time: we hope it's the beginning of something special. ❤️

People often arrive here saying:
“We definitely want to do the Caminito del Rey.”

And quite right too.

But one of the pleasures of staying in this part of Málaga is discovering that the Caminito is only the beginning.

Mountain villages, lakes, walking routes, old towns, tiny bars, extraordinary landscapes — and plenty of places that don't appear on everyone's Andalucía checklist.

Our advice?

Plan the things you absolutely don't want to miss.

Then leave a little room for the things you didn't know were here.

Those often become the best days.

One of the most rewarding parts of running the Finca happens at 7.30 in the evening!

Dinner...

Not because we're secretly trying to run a restaurant - we're definitely not! 😂

But because after a day exploring Andalucía (or doing absolutely nothing beside the pool), there is something rather lovely about giving guests the opportunity to simply sit on their private terrace - or join each other in the outdoor kitchen - to soak up the views and let somebody else worry about what to cook!

Our evening meals are optional, informal and cooked here by us at the Finca.

And over the years, an extraordinary number of conversations and friendships have begun during dinner service.

That's probably our favourite ingredient. ❤️

We like to think the welcome at Finca Gran Cerros is a team effort.

Between the two of us, we prepare the rooms, answer emails, carry the luggage, serve breakfasts and generally try to keep everything running smoothly.

Then there's the third member of the team...

His responsibilities appear to consist largely of turning up, looking handsome and receiving a disproportionate amount of praise!

Late September at the Finca. ☀️

One of those times of year when Andalucía hasn't quite decided that summer is over.

The days are still wonderfully warm, the hills are still glowing in the sunshine, but mornings and evenings are beginning to feel just a little different.

For us, it's one of the loveliest times of year here.

Warm enough to spend the day beside the pool, but increasingly tempting to sit outside for a little longer over dinner as the evening cools.

Not a bad compromise, really. 😊

At the beginning of the summer, the pond sprung a terminal leak. It was the worst possible time for our bright idea to turn it into a new south facing flower bed because of the looming Summer...

But with some good advice from .casalasflores, careful plant selection, patience and plenty of care and attention, it seems to be thriving!!

We might almost be out of the woods! 😂🙏🌿🌱

Head of Security reporting for duty... 🐾

Every morning, Rocky likes to conduct a thorough inspection of the finca.

Perimeter checked.
Olive groves surveyed.
Suspicious noises investigated.
Any unattended snacks duly noted.

It's an important job, and one he takes extremely seriously. 😂

Admittedly, his approach to security becomes much less impressive if the potential intruder happens to be carrying treats.

But until then, you can rest assured that Finca Gran Cerros is under very careful supervision.🤣🐾 💚

What does a winter day at Finca Gran Cerros look like?

There isn't really an answer.

You might make breakfast and head out to explore. Walk somewhere extraordinary. Find somewhere lovely for lunch. Wander through Málaga. Take the long way home.

Or you might make another coffee, sit in the winter sunshine and discover that your plans for the day have quietly disappeared.

That's one of the things we love about the finca in winter.

There's no timetable to follow and nowhere you particularly need to be.

Your own space. Your own plans. Andalusia at your own pace.

From December through to the end of February, Finca Gran Cerros becomes fully self-catering - giving you the freedom to make each day entirely your own.
