Today’s private bus excursion took us to the lush, green north of the island, where a cooler-than-usual day with a very light rain reminded us why Santa Brígida is so beautifully vibrant year-round. We visited the charming Bodega San Juan vineyard, enjoying the peaceful scenery and learning about local winemaking traditions. 🍇🍷

For lunch, we stopped at Casa Martell, a cozy Canarian restaurant serving authentic island flavors. The typical Canarian cuisine here is a must-try for anyone wanting a true taste of the islands. 🥘🌿

More beaches in Gran Canaria are closed due to marine pollution.

These closures are due to the precautions taken by various municipalities following the appearance of spills in the east of the island.

Beaches in eastern Gran Canaria continue to be closed due to marine pollution . Municipalities like Telde have decided to take these precautions while awaiting the results of the investigation into the cause of the pollution on the Gran Canaria coast.

The slick of decomposing organic matter has now reached Mogán . Red flags are flying on all its beaches except for El Perchel (both the beach and the pool area) and Costa Alegre .

The Technical Committee of the Territorial Emergency Plan for Civil Protection ( PLATECA) will meet again this Monday; until then, the alert and monitoring continue.

Situation on the beaches of Telde

One of the reasons, according to Juan Antonio Peña, mayor of Telde, speaking to RTVC, is the large number of dead fish that have appeared on the coast near this oil slick. When asked about the cause of death of these animals, the mayor responded.

"That's what hasn't been determined. It's true that it was suggested and said that it could be something related to the municipal outfall. We have done analyses, the only analyses we have, and there is no industrial pollution, no heavy metals , nothing out of the ordinary," he assures.

The city councilor is asking citizens for prudence and responsibility in this situation and expressing concern about the situation of beaches such as Las Salinetas or Melenara , which remain closed, and not ruling out the possible closure of Aguadulce beach in the coming hours.
