Our Story
The Sa Coma Hotel was constructed by the family of Joan Tomas, Maria Lourdes Font and their children between 1963 and 1970. Its opening to the public took place in 1966. As descendents of farmers, Joan and Maria had always made their living off their land by cultivating the terrain where the hotel is now sited. In the year 1960 a vicious hailstorm destroyed the tomato plantation which was practically the only livelihood of many families and forced a great part of the people of Banyalbufar to start looking for other ways of making a living other than that of working the land. Thanks to Maria strongly opposing on leaving her town and to the ascent of the tourist boom, they decided to take their chance in the hotel and catering business. The change wasn’t easy but slowly and with much determination they went from having a bar-restaurant to a 6 room boarding house. After more than 40 years, Sa Coma enjoys having a loyal clientele, with whom generation after generation they have created a strong friendship
