🌟 Meet the Staff! 🌟

Today we present our Reception Dream Team. Cate and Meli met here in Kabul years ago, left to travel together for a few months, and then came back together to work with us again. Some connections are just meant to happen here. ✈️❤️

Cate, 26 years old, Argentina 🇦🇷

Meet Cate, our reception girl from Buenos Aires, now living in Barcelona for the past two years. She’s one of those people who makes connecting feel easy. She loves psychology, reading, writing and traveling, and you can feel that thoughtful, curious energy in the way she talks to people and makes them feel welcome from the first moment. 📚✨

Cate first worked at Kabul in 2024, during her first year in Barcelona, when she was here alone and still building her life in the city. Back then, Kabul became much more than a workplace for her, it became her family. She left for a while, but some places stay with you, and for Cate, what brought her back was exactly that: the people, the emotions, and everything this place makes her feel. ❤️

Meli, 28 years old, Argentina 🇦🇷

Meet Meli, our reception star from Córdoba, Argentina, who has been living in Barcelona for the last four years. She loves going out, traveling, and experiencing different places, and that open, adventurous spirit is a huge part of what she brings to Kabul every day. She has that kind of energy that feels social, spontaneous and warm, exactly the kind of vibe that fits this place so well. 🌍🍻

For Meli, movement is part of life. She enjoys discovering new places, living different experiences and making the most of every chapter, which is probably why Kabul makes so much sense for her. This is also her second time working here, after leaving to travel for a while and then coming back together with Cate. And honestly, we love a comeback story.

🌟 Meet the Staff! 🌟

Amandine, 28 years old, France 🇫🇷

Meet Amandine, our cocktail-making sweetheart with the biggest heart behind the bar. She moved to Barcelona a few months ago to start a new chapter after some difficult times, looking for a place where she could truly feel at home… and somehow, after traveling around Europe, that place ended up being Kabul. ❤️🍸

For Amandine, Kabul became much more than just a job. It became a home, a safe place, and a little family full of people she deeply cares about. And honestly, that energy shows in everything she does, from the way she welcomes guests to the way she makes everyone around her feel looked after. ✨

When she’s not serving beers or mixing cocktails, you’ll probably find her writing, drawing, or hunting for vintage treasures in thrift shops around the city. She cares a lot about the well-being of the people around her, and her family means everything to her. Soft soul, creative mind, and bar magic… that’s Amandine. 🌷🫶

If you see her at the bar, go say hi… and let her make your night a little better. 🍹

Morad, 27 years old, Italy 🇮🇹

Meet Morad, our Italian bar guy with the soul of an artist and the discipline of a personal trainer. He comes from a small town in northern Italy, but somewhere between books, workouts, coffee and sea views, he found his place in the beautiful chaos of Kabul. ☕🌊

Morad is passionate about literature, philosophy and every kind of art, which means he can probably serve you a beer and then casually start talking about life, beauty, or the meaning of existence. Very Kabul, very iconic. 📚🎭

His perfect day is actually pretty simple: a good workout, a strong coffee, a great book by the sea, and the right music playing in the background. Balance, good energy and a bit of depth, that’s very much his vibe. Strong body, thoughtful mind, and excellent taste in atmosphere… that’s Morad. 💪🎶

If you catch him around the hostel, don’t be surprised if you leave with a drink in your hand and a new favorite conversation. 🍻

🌟 Meet the Staff! 🌟

Lara, 19 years old, Brazil 🇧🇷

Meet Lara, our Brazilian sunshine who somehow traded the beach life for the chaos of the Kabul bar… and ended up loving it. She moved to Spain at 18 years old with no plan at all, and somehow life brought her right here to the Kabul family. ☀️🍻

Having grown up by the ocean, Lara says she actually gets sick if she spends too long away from the sea. Her perfect day? Sun, bikini, a freezing beer, and pagode music playing in the background. 🌊🎶

She loves traveling, diving, snowboarding, and trying to surf whenever she can. But one of her favorite things is chatting with guests… especially the good-looking ones. 🤙🏼

Beach vibes, big smiles, and endless stories… that’s Lara. If you see her behind the bar, grab a beer and say hi. 🍺🌴

Anthony (Tony), 32 years old, France / England 🇫🇷🇬🇧

Meet Tony, a man with a big heart and a very tiny attention span (his words, not ours). Half French, half English, born in Portugal… basically collecting nationalities like they’re Pokémon cards. 🌍🎴

Tony is one of Kabul’s most creative minds. When he’s not around the hostel, you’ll probably find him working on some random project: painting, making clothes, carving wood into something new… whatever creative idea caught his attention that week. 🎨🪵

Fun fact: he has already built two guitars from scratch, and he’s thinking about making a third. So if you see a guy with a big grin, sharp sarcasm, and a shirt covered in paint, chances are you’ve just met Tony. 🎸

Creative chaos, endless ideas, and a lot of personality… that’s Tony.

Some time ago, the idea that Kabul could receive an award from the hostel industry itself was just a dream. A wish that felt distant. But dreams, when combined with real work, passion, and teamwork… do come true. ✨

At the AGM in Ibiza 2025, during the first official awards ceremony organized by the Europe Famous Hostels association, we experienced a moment that will forever remain part of our history:

This recognition celebrates something that for us is not a strategy, but a philosophy: 
The development of professionals within the hostel industry. 
The hostel as a real learning and training space.
