Tania Safura Adam works across research, writing, and curatorial practice.

Her work moves through histories that are often left outside of dominant narratives connecting Black diasporas, archives, and forms of resistance.

These lines of thought extend into exhibitions and institutions.

Her work can currently be seen at (macba.cat/en/exhibitions), as part of its current programme engaging with questions of history, representation, and contemporary cultural narratives.
On view until April 19.

She has also been part of Un réquiem por la humanidad at (lacasaencendida.es), a space dedicated to critical, social, and cultural reflection.

Her publications can be found at and online.

She was hosted at Pol & Grace through residency program

Barcelona is not only what is designed and displayed, but what is built through voices, communities, and cultural work that often remains in the background. A historically multicultural and diverse city.

Our Sketchbook: A Different Kind of City Guide

This sketchbook is our personal journal and city guide a curated look at Barcelona through the eyes of Pol & Grace.

Inside, you’ll find notes, observations, and places that often go unnoticed: unusual historic corners, small architectural gems, local favourites, and curious details that rarely appear in traditional guides. It’s a way of exploring the city slowly, with attention and a sense of discovery.

A guide that captures Barcelona from the inside out.
A Barcelona off the beaten path our road less traveled.

You can purchase it online when booking your stay, or directly at the front desk when you arrive.

Staying at Pol & Grace means discovering Barcelona with local insights, its creative circles, private gatherings, and places usually off the tourist radar.

Our guests had the rare opportunity to access , a private members’ club founded in 1856 and housed in one of the city’s most emblematic modernist palaces. Known for its cultural heritage and architectural beauty, it opened its doors to art lovers for the .art event an occasion we were proud to collaborate on.

Art is in the core of our DNA. This year’s edition, curated by .franzoni brought together collectors and artists from around the world. And the best of Barcelona Galleries The exhibition featured a variety of artist. Some of our selection where:

Founded in 1992 by Jan van der Lande in New York, Kikkerland began as a side project with a bicycle and a backpack, delivering Dutch designed curiosities across the city’s five boroughs. Three decades later, it’s a global name for clever, good humoured design the kind that solves small problems while sparking joy.

In our lobby between morning coffee and evening check ins, you’ll find:

🍉 Fruit Fan – A foldable paper fan that looks like a slice of watermelon tiny, tactile relief for August’s generous heat.

🔗 Cable Ties (Assorted 8‑Pack) Cheerful nylon straps in vivid shades, each ready to tame a tangle of modern life without fuss or fussiness.

📰 Fake News Dog Toy Designed by David Dear, this playful canvas chew toy, headlines in every crinkle.

👾 Kidoki Monster Bubbles A mini monster in bottle form, designed by Goodlines unscrew.

Kikkerland’s approach is simple but simultaneously thoughtful, humorous, and functional.

People call them the cubes, but their real name is L’Estel Ferit (The Wounded Star). Four rusted blocks, stacked as if mid-collapse, quietly watching over Barceloneta Beach.

The artist is Rebecca Horn, born in postwar Germany. Her work often deals with balance, tension, and transformation themes. Known for her sculptures and installations, she also wrote screenplays, directed films and operas.

She created this piece in 1992, during Barcelona’s Olympic era reinvention. The coastline was opened up, public space expanded, but it also marked the end of a more improvised, lived in beach. The sculpture carries that tension. Fragile, uneven, a little unresolved.

Amina Zoubir is an Algerian born visual artist whose work explores gendered spaces, colonial imagery, and the representation of North African bodies through performance, video, and sculpture. Her practice draws from Maghrebi poetics, mythology, and socio-political narratives to question how identity and humanity are constructed.

In Room 505, curated by , Zoubir presents a translucent wax sculpture engraved with the phrase: “Courage is not the absence of fear but the ability to overcome.”

Barcelona Essentials
A quiet collection of metro cards, gathered over the years each one a snapshot of design, daily life, and the way we move through the city.
At Pol & Grace, you’re well-connected: just a 7 minute walk from Fontana (L3) and 1 minute from Plaza Molina (L7), where the FGC trains will take you directly to the city center or up toward Tibidabo mountain for panoramic views, an amusement park, and one of the citys most iconic hilltop spots.

Barcelona’s transport system is fully integrated one card lets you hop on metro, train, tram, and bus.

Not sure which pass to get?
• T‑Dia: unlimited travel for 1 day
• Hola BCN: unlimited 2–5 day pass (includes airport)
• T‑Casual: 10 rides to use at your pace
• T‑Mes: 30 day unlimited (ideal for longer stays)
And if you’re into metro nostalgia: visit Espai Mercè Sala at Diagonal station a small, free exhibition space inside the metro that showcases transport design, vintage signage, and Barcelona’s mobility history.
→ Do you keep your metro cards too?
