El Tió:
Originariamente el “Tió” era un tronco que ardía en el hogar: el fuego a tierra. Un tronco que, al quemar, daba bienes tan preciados como el calor y la luz, y que de forma simbólica ofrecía presentes a los de la casa: golosinas, barquillos, turrones.
Con el tiempo ha evolucionado y se ha convertido en el protagonista navideño en los hogares catalanes; un tronco mágico que hay que cuidar y alimentar hasta Noche Buena, momento en que se "caga el Tió”.
Para hacerlo c***r, es necesario pegarle con un bastón mientras se canta la canción tradicional.
De una forma u otra el "Tió" tiene un mismo objetivo: Ofrecer regalos a los de la casa.
Regalos que han variado con el tiempo: Primero eran básicamente dulces, barquillos y turrones lo que se necesitaba para celebrar la fiesta, aunque hoy hay una tendencia a utilizar el "Tió" para dar presentes de más envergadura, con lo cual se ha convertido en una especie de "Santa Klaus" en las regiones donde es costumbre su celebración.
