One of the things I love most about working with ash is that I never know exactly how the surface will respond.
For Essential, I use pure ash from different plants fig, vine, olive and pine.
Each one brings something slightly different to the glaze: a different tone, texture and character.
The plant becomes part of the object in another form.

I collect them as memories of a place, as fragments of a landscape that continue to live in the studio.

A few images from my exhibition at Casa Tanaka, Budou no Tane.

Seeing these pieces in this space has been a very special experience. I love how they have found their place among the history, materials and quiet atmosphere of Casa Tanaka, becoming part of the space rather than simply occupying it.

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has visited the exhibition, and to the people at Budou no Tane for welcoming my work with such care.
