Onlangs werden we geïnterviewd voor het magazine Durf! En wat is het bijzonder om zo uitgebreid over ons leven hier in Spanje te lezen.

Van onze eerste plannen om naar Andalusië te verhuizen tot het vinden van ons huis, de lange verbouwing, de start van Casa Tragabalas en alles wat daarna op ons pad kwam.

Want eerlijk is eerlijk: het leven onder de Spaanse zon is prachtig, maar zeker niet altijd zo ontspannen als het er op foto's uitziet. 😉

Er wordt hard gewerkt, regelmatig geïmproviseerd, soms flink gemopperd, maar gelukkig ook heel veel gelachen en genoten.

En ondertussen blijven we dromen, plannen maken en nieuwe dingen ontdekken.

Wat we zo mooi vinden aan dit interview, is dat het niet alleen laat zien wát we doen, maar vooral ook waarom we doen wat we doen.

Het is echt óns verhaal geworden. Eerlijk, persoonlijk en herkenbaar. Met alle mooie momenten, uitdagingen en keuzes die ons hebben gebracht waar we nu staan.

Een bijzonder woord van dank aan Kim Leeuw van Durf! voor het fijne interview en de mooie manier waarop ons verhaal is vastgelegd.

Semana Santa in Cómpeta | 21–28 March 2027

Easter falls early in 2027, and in Cómpeta, Semana Santa is far more than a date in the calendar.

It is a week of faith, history and tradition, when church bells ring across the rooftops and processions move through the narrow streets of the pueblo—solemn and deeply moving one day, joyful and exuberant the next.

🌿 Viernes de Dolores — Friday 19 March
Honouring the sorrow of the Virgin Mary before Holy Week begins.

🌿 Domingo de Ramos — Sunday 21 March
Palm Sunday recalls Christ’s arrival in Jerusalem and marks the beginning of Holy Week.

🌿 Miércoles Santo — Wednesday 24 March
A reflective evening of processions depicting events leading towards the Crucifixion.

🌿 Jueves Santo — Thursday 25 March
Holy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper and is marked by one of the village’s atmospheric nighttime processions.

🌿 Viernes Santo — Friday 26 March
Good Friday is the most solemn day, remembering the Passion and Crucifixion of Christ.

🌿 Sábado de Gloria — Saturday 27 March
A time of quiet anticipation before the celebration of the Resurrection.

🌿 Domingo de Resurrección — Sunday 28 March
Easter Sunday brings a complete change of mood as the village celebrates the Resurrection with ringing bells, music, colour and confetti cascading from the church tower.

You do not need to be religious to appreciate the atmosphere. Semana Santa offers a very special glimpse into the heart of a small Andalusian pueblo and the traditions shared by its community across generations.

Our Cómpeta Escapes homes place you right in the centre of village life. In past years, guests staying at No 8 have enjoyed a bird’s-eye view from the balconies as the processions passed through the street below—while all three homes make it easy to step outside and experience the celebrations.

The official 2027 programme and procession times will be shared when they are released.
