Calpe is located between the airports of Valencia and Alicante, at a good 20 km north of the well-known Benidorm, near Moraira and Altea, and is easily accessible via the airports of Alicante or Valencia.
Finding, comparing and booking flights is easy with the Google search engine: https://www.google.com/flights
Calpe is less "busy" than Benidorm, but with its 24 km2 surface area and 27,000 permanent residents, it is still alive all year around.
The Imperial Park Resort,
concerns one of the most prestigious bungalow parks along the Costa Blanca, and was built in 2003 against a hill so that the (most) houses have an extraordinarily beautiful panoramic view over the Mediterranean Sea, the Penon de Ifach, and the skyline of Calpe. There is a hotel, a piece of time-sharing and a piece of private property. We have 2 private bungalows, number 2801 & 2901.
Despite the fact that the dwellings are identical in terms of layout, there is still quite a difference in comfort depending on the location within the park. We had been there several times before we bought a house and knew exactly what we should pay attention to.
Everyone (including those staying in private homes) can make free use of the swimming pools and gardens free of charge. And the swimming pool complex of Imperial Park resort, with its 6 swimming pools, water slides and waterfalls and special children's pool, is truly impressive.
During the winter months, the hotel closes its doors so that the park, where crowds reign in high season, transforms itself in the winter months into an ideal destination for the winter visitors who are looking for peace and quiet.
During the winter months, there are of course also no lifeguards available, but the park is maintained throughout the year and the gardens remain freely accessible to all guests.
You enter the park through a large central roundabout where you can also find the reception, where you can book excursions, collect money, etc.
Around this central point a hotel was built, the water park, and 78 private homes.
The entire park has camera surveillance through the streets.
Once you enter the reception, our home is located at the top left behind the barrier. You can park for free in front of the cottages at the reception, or in the parking lot when entering the park. If you wish to park for the house yourself, a special card can be purchased at the reception of the park.
Our homes,
are semi-detached buildings, consisting of two floors and have 3 bedrooms & two bathrooms, 1 on the ground floor with toilet, washbasin and shower cabin, and 1 on the first floor with toilet, sink and bathtub. The house was built to comfortably accommodate 6 people during the summer, and is ideal for a couple of hibernators where each has its own private bathroom.
Furthermore, there is of course a living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and two spacious terraces, one on each floor. 1 terrace is oriented south-south-east, and the other south-south-west, so you always have somewhere sun from the coffee at breakfast to the pousse cafe after dinner.
All rooms have air conditioning / central heating (by means of air circulation). There is a washing machine, a TV set, private Wifi and decoded satellite reception with tons of international channels available in each of our homes.
The houses were recently decorated, with solid and tasteful furniture.
The location within the park is also optimal. Near the reception, with a street to the back door, and with unobstructed panoramic views over the Mediterranean sea from both terraces.
The beaches of Calpe do the Costa Blanca all the credit, ...
You have the choice between the more authentic quiet bay beach of la Fustera on a mile and a half, or the long stretch of white sandy beach of Calpe about 2 km from the resort.
From the rock of Calpe "de Penon de Ifach" which can also be climbed via a tourist footpath, you have the "old part" of Calpe to the south and the "new part" to the north.
On both sides you will find a marina, ... 1 large marina located on the rock itself, and a smaller marina on the northern border towards Moraira. Here you will also find a diving school, surf school, ... or you can take a catamaran sailing course.
Along the entire beach you will find a very well maintained walkway full of terraces and shops.
You can of course enjoy barbeques on your own terrace. Each of our cottages has a proper Weber gas BBQ and there are plenty of supermarkets in the neighborhood, including Aldi and Lidl, Mercadona, Consum, Mas-y-Mas edm. You will also find a smaller local superette at walking distance from the park.
The wider environment will also satisfy everyone's desire.
Everyone knows of course the Costa Blanca because of the beautiful beaches, the mild climate and the azure blue water. But besides all this, the fantastic interior has much more to offer. The region owes its name to the white almond blossoms that turn the entire coastline white from February-March, hence Costa Blanca.
If you do not want to go to the beach for a day, then the old parts of Calpe, Altea, Benissa, Denia will delight the culture lovers, the hilly coastal roads are a dream trail for the cycling enthusiasts, and the grandeur of the nature around the Algar Falls or Guadalest leave no one untouched, ...
... and after a day of discovery, the trendy bars and cozy restaurants of fashionable Moraira welcome you ...
Fans of amusement parks are also spoiled with toppers such as Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, Aqualandia and Mundomar, ... all built around the hills of Benidorm, a good 20 km more south.
in short, something for everyone, and a cocktail that guarantees a very successful holiday for young and old.
If you want to discover more than just the beautiful beaches during your stay, be sure to rent a car on the spot. They are a lot cheaper in Spain than you think, if you go looking for the right way. You will find numerous rental companies at the airports. You can compare them all at www.autoeurope.com or www.rentalcars.com
The Mecca of the Velo.
Calpe has been known by riders for years as an ideal destination to organize training camps. After all, the average temperature is about 15 degrees above ours, and on top of that the sun shines more than 300 days a year, which makes it ideal even in January-February. That in combination with the salty sea-air and the sloping hinterland makes the world top riders frequent the area year after year.
The soft, sun-drenched spring and autumn periods are ideal for a day on the green in the nearby club Golf Ifach. For only 13 euros you can finish all 9 holes twice, and all this with beautiful views over the Mediterranean Sea.
If after a day of fun in the water, cycling or beach fun you want to go back, the many bars and restaurants in Calpe welcome you with their delicious Mediterranean cuisine. You will be amazed at how much you can eat at a fraction of the prices we are used to in the North.
And to make it even more beautiful there is the entrance of the park, under the reception a SPA Wellness of 2.000 m2, with Jacuzzi's pool, saunas, Turkish baths etc etc, where you can order an “a la carte” Wellness treatment (against payment).
