To our Wild Olive Andalucía Fans:
After nearly 6 years, we are moving on to the next chapter. The Wild Olive was a dream we had to work and live a unique, slower lifestyle together, as a couple. From the extreme high of finding “the right place” to do it, we were quickly faced with the pandemic lockdown 2 weeks after we signed the papers. And as a lot of you know, during this time, Will had a very rare health emergency and was in and out of hospital and unable to walk for 10 months. The first year was a dark cloud of uncertainty, personally and professionally but we didn’t give up. Slowly crawling out of the Covid hole, we started our little guest house from scratch and our dream became more of what we had imagined. The people we have welcomed, the things we’ve DIY’ed, the walls we’ve painted, plants we’ve planted, the toilets we’ve unclogged, the breakfasts we’ve served, the meals we have shared and the lost in translation conversations in our attempt at Spanish are priceless. Over the years, so many guests have asked “how did you do this, we have a dream to do something similar?” My answer: Just go for it. (but remember that nothing worth it comes easy) don’t let the challenges steer you away from your goal because there’s going to be several. Take it one step at a time. Everything is meant to be and it will be, eventually. It is hard to put into words what The Wild Olive means to us but we know it will forever remain a core memory in our lives as will all of you–the guests! THANK YOU for being a part of this story.
Spain has been so good to us. We want to come back someday. For now, we are taking a little siesta :) If you get the chance to visit Andalucia, specifically Casares/Manilva 🪄 It is a beautiful REAL place with the kindest, most open and relaxed people and deliciously cheap wine and beer.
