No complicated booking. Just turn up.

The wider Mogán municipality forecast can sometimes show more cloud or even a small possibility of light rain while the coast remains sunny, so don’t be surprised if the forecast you see for “Mogán” looks slightly different from what you actually experience here in Puerto de Mogán.

The airport forecast indicates that winds may become noticeably stronger later this afternoon and evening, with gusts possible.
If you are travelling later today it is always sensible to keep an eye on your airline app before leaving for the airport.

There are 257 steps taking you up through the old part of Puerto de Mogán to one of my favourite views over the harbour, beach and coast.
Take your time, stop along the way, and enjoy all the little streets and houses as you climb.

As always, opening hours can occasionally change, so if you are making a special journey it is worth checking directly with the business first.

🚗 THINKING ABOUT HIRING A CAR WHILE YOU’RE HERE?
This is another question I receive very often.
You absolutely do not need a car for Puerto de Mogán itself. Everything here is walkable.
But the moment you want to explore more of Gran Canaria, especially the mountain villages, viewpoints, inland roads and the north of the island, a car gives you much more freedom.
Buses can take you to many places, but you won’t have the same flexibility.
My advice? Look at the local Canarian companies first.
The international names such as Hertz, Avis, Europcar and Sixt are familiar to most people, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they will be the simplest or cheapest option here.
With international companies you may find a very attractive online price, followed by:
💳 A substantial deposit held on your credit card
🛡️ An excess that can often be €800–€1,500
💶 Additional insurance offered when you collect the car
Local companies such as CICAR and Autoreisen tend to be much more straightforward.
Often:
✅ Full insurance with no excess is included
✅ No large deposit
✅ Additional drivers are included
✅ Child seats may be included
✅ The price online is much closer to what you actually pay
I’ve also heard good experiences with Pluscar and TopCar.
The company I personally hear the most difficult feedback about from visitors is Goldcar, so that is one I would research particularly carefully before booking.
CICAR and Autoreisen both have airport collection, which makes things very easy if you want the car for your whole holiday.
Before driving away:
📱 Film the car all the way around
🔍 Record any existing scratches or marks
⛽ Check the fuel level
📄 Make sure the vehicle documents are there
It takes one minute and can save arguments later.
And remember:
⚪ White parking lines = normally free
🔵 Blue lines = paid parking
🟡 Yellow lines = do not park
Do not use your phone while driving, even while stopped at traffic lights.
Once you head into the mountains towards places such as Tejeda, Fataga or Artenara, take your time. The roads can be narrow, winding and steep.
Use the miradores to stop, admire the view and let faster local traffic pass.
And watch carefully for cyclists, particularly around blind bends.

💬 SOME OF THE QUESTIONS I RECEIVE ALMOST EVERY DAY
🌦️ “What will the weather be like when I arrive?”
Sometimes people ask me about tomorrow.
Sometimes next week.
Sometimes June next year. 😄
Puerto de Mogán is known for having a remarkably stable and dry climate, with sunshine for much of the year and generally mild winter temperatures.
So try not to worry too much when you see a cloud symbol on an app.
The weather can also vary dramatically between different parts of Gran Canaria. It can be cloudy in the mountains or north while we are sitting in sunshine here in Puerto de Mogán.
And yes, there have even been extremely dry periods when people can barely remember the last proper rain.

🏨 “WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO STAY?”
Some of the most frequently mentioned hotels are:
• Cordial Mogán Playa
• Hotel LIVVO Puerto de Mogán
• Radisson Blu Resort & Spa Gran Canaria Mogán
Popular apartment options include:
• Cordial Mogán Valle
• Billy’s Puerto de Mogán Apartments by LIVVO
• LIVVO Apartments
Personally, I find it difficult to tell everyone that one particular place is “the best”.
We all have different priorities.
Some want a huge pool.
Some want to be beside the harbour.
Some want peace and quiet.
Some want an apartment rather than a hotel.
My advice is to read a good selection of recent reviews on:
📍 Google
📍 Booking
📍 TripAdvisor
And always compare the hotel’s own direct price too. Sometimes booking directly gives you a better rate or better conditions.

🚰 CAN I BRUSH MY TEETH WITH TAP WATER?
Yes
The tap water is safe to use for brushing your teeth.
Many visitors prefer bottled water for drinking simply because of the taste.
