There's many very good reasons why so many people visit Gran Canaria and why so many of us are happy to call it our home!

For me its the variety, the colors, the landscape, the people. You can walk from verdant greenlands to stunning sand dunes. You can start a day swimming in a mountain lake, spend the afternoon relaxing on a beautiful beach then hit the town for an evening of drink and entertainment in any of the nightlife spots. Soak up some traditional Spanish culture at any one of the many events or celebrations that the local people love to throw or spend a day exploring extravagant cave systems that protected local people from conquest for many years. There is so much to do here the hardest choice for most of our guests is which part of the island to visit next!

For an Island less than 50KM across the diversity, the scenery and everything else about this magical place is simple staggering. You can travel around it in a day but not get to know all its secrets in a lifetime!

We have something rather special planned at Columbus tonight!

The incredibly talented Marisol Garcia will be performing a live DJ set on our stunning roof terrace this evening!

A top class DJ, she will be performing for our entertainment for a few hours until 10.30 to promote her night time set at the Saints and sinners bar in Las Canteras! Everyone is welcome to join, chill and our rooftop bar and enjoy the music before we head out as a group to support her at the club!

It would be great to see as many of you as possible come to support!

The best thing about hostel life? For us it's relaxing in the evening with a cold beer and good company! We believe we have the best place in Las Palmas to do just that.

With the biggest roof terrace for any hostel in town and an amazing, well stocked bar there's no better place to chill after a long day enjoying this incredible island.

We always like to keep our guests entertained! With nightly events ranging from live music with fantastic performers, beer pong tournaments, nightly family meals, movie nights with a projector on the terrace, trips to the beach, tapas night in Vegueta, live DJ sets and much, much more!

With our fully stocked rooftop bar, amazing location and fantastic staff we believe we offer one of the best hostel experiences in Gran Canaria!

We like to be a little bit different! Most of the hostel's around Las Palmas will offer you a home cooked meal at least once a week. Here at Columbus our in house Chef is currently preparing fresh, tasty meals five times a week, soon to be everyday! With everything made from scratch using fresh, local ingredients we think it will be difficult to find better hostel food on Gran Canaria!

Based in Vegueta, the heart of the old town of Gran Canarias capital city of Las Palmas, Columbus is in a perfect position for anyone looking to really discover this amazing city. Directly next to the Cathedral De Santa Ana and surrounded by beautiful, ancient buildings this truly is a stunning location.

Just over the road you can visit the Casa de colon, once the home of Christopher Columbus and now a museum to his memory.

A five minute walk brings you to the central bus station of San Telmo where you can reach any part of our Island with a brief bus ride.

A quiet, beautiful location yet close enough to all the amenities of this vibrant city. Here you can soak up the culture and lifestyle of the Canaries yet enjoy all the activities, nights out, great people and holiday atmosphere that makes this town, this city and these islands the perfect place to escape and leave all your problems behind!

Living on, working in and loving an island like Gran Canaria also means getting to know some truly incredible people! We are very fortunate that we work closely with some other amazing hostels on this island. This gives us the chance to throw some spectacular parties, such as one from a few days back at the phenomenal Finca La Isa in the Tejeda Valley. We invited hostels from all over the island and it was a magical night, enjoyed by everyone who came.

Being a guest at Columbus does not limit you to just one place. Having connections all over the Island we are more than happy to recommend activities, days out and other great places to stay. We really hope to see you here soon to enjoy everything that this special island has to offer!
