As we say goodbye to Arián, Esme and Vicky we close FIXAR for 2026 at iSlow.
We also say goodbye to a September that felt like summer in some ways, but at a slower pace. The pace it takes to focus and approach life changing projects.
FIXAR is a programme that brings people with a project to live and work from a Galician village. With the purpose of helping them settle in a rural area like ours. Three colivings take part: Sende in Lobeira Sende, Anceu in Ponte Caldelas, Anceu Coliving and us in Laxe.
Vicky, Esme and A***n arrived in the house to team up as the most perfect team for self care.
The whiteboard was full from day one: a cooking workshop, a creative writing session, natural dyeing, the Friday market in Laxe, the beach, the lighthouse. But turns out as more special is often the less tangible that never gets on the board: the long conversations, the spontaneous hug, the fresh and homemade food…
From A***n Arián Chef we learned to eat beautifully, with thought, for the senses and for the body.
From Esme Esmeralda Castro, how easy it is to create with everyday things, calmly, knowing that whatever comes out will be great. And also, how to wear traditional galician scarfs with style for day to day outfit.
From Vicky Querido extraño, how freeing it is to write, and to express the things we feel with images.
Meanwhile, new people arrived and found a creative, entrepreneurial, feminine… human crew, and a reason to get comfortable and call iSlow home for a while.
Photos, notes, workshops that looked barely prepared. Between them all, the way we look after each other here went up a level.
