IT ALL STARTED IN 1970 🥂

Puerto Banús opened in 1970, bringing a new vision of Mediterranean luxury to Marbella. More than five decades later, its marina and waterfront remain some of the Costa del Sol’s most recognisable sights.

A GRAND OPENING FIT FOR ROYALTY 👑

Princess Grace and Prince Rainier of Monaco attended the opening celebrations, and a young Julio Iglesias performed for the guests. Puerto Banús certainly knew how to make an entrance!

ANDALUSIAN CHARM, BY DESIGN 🤍

The village-style buildings around the marina were part of a carefully planned vision. José Banús and architect Noldi Schreck helped shape a destination inspired by a Mediterranean village, combining Andalusian character with an international luxury atmosphere.

IT ALMOST HAD A DIFFERENT NAME 👀

Early planning documents referred to the development as “Puerto Ángel”, linked to the former El Ángel agricultural estate. It was later renamed after its developer, José Banús, the name we recognise today.
