La Cala de Mijas is the only fishing village left between Fuengirola and Marbella on the Costa Del Sol. Malaga airport is 30 minutes away by road and it is also possible to travel by train and bus. The climate is very mild and sunny with 320 days of sunshine a year - even in winter it is usually warm and sunny enough to eat outside. The village of La Cala and surrounding area is very suitable for

family holidays with a child-friendly blue flag beach and many activities during the day and evening. Local area amusements include aqua-park and zoo, while in the summer there is an open air cinema on the beach. English language cinemas are located about ten minutes away. There are several excellent restaurants serving every type of cuisine, including the famous chiringuitos, small restaurants on the beach specializing in fresh fish. There is a choice of traditional Spanish bars or others broadcasting sporting events or hosting live acts. There are 30 golf courses within 25km of La Cala and several within the immediate area. A Spanish market takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Other nearby activities includes horse riding, water sports such as wind surfing, scuba diving and snorkeling.
