Chiringuito Macenas is one of those rare seaside spots that manages to combine a relaxed beach atmosphere with genuinely high-quality food. Located right on the Macenas beach in Mojácar, the restaurant offers stunning views of the Mediterranean, especially at sunset, making it an ideal place for both a casual lunch and a romantic dinner. ♥️

The menu focuses primarily on fresh seafood and Mediterranean cuisine, and the quality of the ingredients is immediately noticeable. Dishes like grilled fish, seafood paella, and prawns are prepared simply but expertly, allowing the natural flavors to stand out. There are also solid options for meat lovers and vegetarians, which makes it a versatile choice for groups. 😋

Service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The staff seem experienced and are happy to recommend dishes or wines, adding to the overall relaxed yet professional vibe. Even during busy hours, the atmosphere remains laid-back, in true “chiringuito” style. 🌴

Prices are slightly above average, but they feel justified given the location, portion sizes, and quality of the food. You’re not just paying for a meal—you’re paying for the full experience: the sea breeze, the sound of the waves, and the beautifully presented dishes. 🍤

Overall, Chiringuito Macenas is a must-visit if you’re in Mojácar. It strikes a great balance between casual beach dining and refined cuisine, making it memorable for all the right reasons. go2mojacar Turismo de Mojácar Mojacar Informa

🌿 Viernes Santo in Mojácar – A Moving Tradition in Southern Spain 🇪🇸

Every year, the beautiful white village of Mojácar comes alive with deep emotion and centuries-old tradition during Viernes Santo (Good Friday). This solemn day is one of the most important moments of Holy Week, marked by powerful processions that wind through the narrow, cobbled streets.

As night falls, locals dressed in traditional robes carry religious statues illuminated by candlelight, creating a truly unforgettable atmosphere. The silence, broken only by slow drumbeats, invites reflection and respect for this meaningful occasion.

Visitors are welcomed to witness this unique blend of faith, culture, and history. Experiencing Viernes Santo in Mojácar is not just about observing a tradition—it’s about feeling the spirit of a community deeply connected to its roots.

✨ If you’re looking for an authentic and emotional cultural experience, Mojácar during Semana Santa is a must. go2mojacar

Last night we had the pleasure of attending a magical flamenco evening at the Instituto Cervantes in Warsaw as go2mojacar.

We immersed ourselves in the rich history of flamenco – its passion, rhythm, and deep cultural roots truly left a lasting impression. The lecture was led by renowned musicologist Faustino Núñez, and the evening was beautifully enriched by the singing of Mónica Clavijo, born in Jerez de la Frontera – the heartland of flamenco.

One of the most exciting discoveries of the evening? Some of the best authentic flamenco nights in Spain take place in the beautiful white village of Mojácar Pueblo.

Even more reason to visit and experience it for yourself. 💃🔥 go2mojacar Turismo de MojácarMojacar Informa

Bédar - a hidden gem in Andalusia

Tucked away in the hills of Almería province in southern Spain, Bédar is one of those places that feels like a step back in time. This charming whitewashed village sits in the Sierra Cabrera mountains, just a short drive from Mojácar, overlooking the Mediterranean coastline and offering breathtaking panoramic views.

Once known for its mining industry in the 19th century, Bédar today is a peaceful village full of history, narrow winding streets, and authentic Andalusian character. Walking through the town, you’ll find traditional white houses, small squares filled with flowers, and viewpoints where the mountains meet the sea.

What makes Bédar truly special is its atmosphere. Life moves slowly here. Locals gather in small cafés, the church bells echo through the hills, and sunsets paint the surrounding mountains in shades of gold and orange.

For travelers looking to experience real Andalusia, away from the crowded resorts, Bédar is a perfect destination. Whether you enjoy hiking, photography, history, or simply relaxing in a beautiful setting, this little village offers a unique and unforgettable charm.

If you ever visit the Almería region, make sure to add Bédar to your list — you might just discover one of Spain’s best-kept secrets. go2mojacar Turismo de Mojácar Mojacar Informa

Sierra Cabrera - Wild Mountains Above Mojácar

Just a short distance from the white hilltop town of Mojácar rises one of the most fascinating landscapes in southern Spain — the Sierra Cabrera mountain range. These rugged mountains form a dramatic backdrop to the Mediterranean coast and give the region a truly unique character.

Unlike the lush green mountains found in many parts of Europe, Sierra Cabrera has a wild, almost desert-like beauty. Its rocky slopes, winding roads and hidden valleys create spectacular scenery that feels untouched and timeless. At sunrise and sunset the mountains glow in shades of gold, orange and red, making it a paradise for photographers and nature lovers.

The area is also rich in wildlife and traditional Andalusian culture. Small mountain villages, historic farmhouses and ancient paths can still be found scattered across the hills. Hiking, mountain biking and scenic drives through the mountains offer breathtaking views over the coastline and the Mediterranean Sea.

For visitors staying in Mojácar, a trip into the Sierra Cabrera is the perfect way to discover the quieter, more mysterious side of Almería — a place where nature, history and stunning landscapes come together.

If you love adventure, nature and unforgettable views, Sierra Cabrera is a place you simply have to experience. go2mojacar Turismo de Mojácar Mojacar Informa

Mojácar - the white labyrinth where time decided to stop ♥️

Beyond the typical sun-and-sand experience of Almería lies a place that feels like a Mediterranean dream. Mojácar is not just a destination; it’s a sensory journey through centuries of history, draped in whitewashed walls and vibrant bougainvillea.

While most visitors head straight to the 17 kilometers of pristine beaches, the true soul of the region is perched high on a hill: Mojácar Pueblo. To enter through the Puerta de la City (the old 16th-century stone gate) is to leave the modern world behind. Here, the streets don’t follow a map; they follow the whims of the mountain.

The Art of Getting Lost

The best way to experience the Arrabal district (the old Jewish quarter) is to let yourself get lost. It’s a photographer’s paradise where every corner offers a contrast of blindingly white facades against a deep blue sky. As you wander, you’ll encounter the Statue of La Mojaquera, a marble tribute to the local women who once carried water from the Fuente Mora. This historic fountain is more than just a landmark—it’s the site where the town’s peaceful surrender to the Catholic Monarchs took place, embodying the spirit of coexistence that defines Mojácar.

Golden Hour at Plaza Nueva

As the afternoon heat fades, the town converges at Plaza Nueva. While the Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores stands quietly in the corner, the real show is at the viewpoint. From here, you can gaze over the "Valley of the Pyramids" and watch the Mediterranean horizon turn gold.

Living the Heritage

For those who want to feel the pulse of the past, a visit to Casa Museo La Canana is essential. This restored 1920s house offers a glimpse into a lifestyle where time was measured by the seasons rather than clocks.

Mojácar is a reminder that beauty lies in the details: a hidden mosaic of the Indalo (the local symbol of protection), the scent of jasmine in a hidden alley, and the sound of silence in the early morning. It’s a place that asks you to slow down, breathe, and simply "be." go2mojacar Turismo de Mojácar Mojacar Informa
