Andalusia without mass tourism:
We admire Almería for its mixture of pristine nature, drowsy white villages, and typical Spanish urban life. We will share all hidden gems with you: Hike through the valley of fossils or pedal on your bike like mad as you follow in Contador’s footsteps. However, we also know the most beautiful bay for snorkelling and of course the one with the best food. We will serve up for you:
For breakfast, there will be an Andalusian tostada with tomato, salt, and olive oil. Jams, yogurt creations, and orange juice – served with fruit from our garden. At our gourmet evenings, we are going to serve you locally sourced products. Lamb from the neighbouring village meets spices of our Moorish heritage. Freshly caught fish finds its way into the paella pan. And we always recommend the right w**e that goes along with it …

Quiet & relaxation for adults only:
A holiday during which you only do what YOU want to do: Lie by the pool all day, enjoy a relaxing massage, eat a bowl of delicious chilled gazpacho for lunch and dip your warm bread in olive oil …

Craving a glass of w**e along with your lunch? No problem! “Adults Only” means no loud children and not having to act as a role model 🙂

Hidden in the hills just outside Mojácar, Cortijo El Sarmiento is the kind of place you don’t really find by searching for “a hotel”.

You find it because someone tells you about it.

Just six rooms. Adults only. At the beach you’ll find apartments for families. Just around the corner!

Mornings that start slowly, with breakfast under the Andalusian sun. Included concierge service from Carsten & Yvonne! Afternoons by the pool, where the Honesty Bar has a funny habit of turning strangers into friends. Dinner events you will enjoy. And on our dinner nights? Everyone gathers around one table, the w**e is poured and somehow nobody is checking the time anymore.

That’s probably our favourite part.

We’re Yvonne & Carsten, and this little Cortijo is our home. We’ll tell you where to find the quiet beaches, which tapas bar is actually worth going to and why Mojácar is so much more than a pretty white village on a hill.

No crowds. No big resort feeling. No anonymous check-in.

Just six rooms, plenty of sunshine and a little corner of Andalusia that feels surprisingly hard to leave.

You don’t come to Cortijo El Sarmiento in Mojácar just for a beautiful place to sleep. You come here for the evenings you didn’t plan. 🌿🇪🇸

Hidden in the hills near Mojácar, Almería, this small adults-only boutique B&B might be one of those Andalusian hidden gems you only hear about from someone who’s actually stayed there.

And the best part?

The dinner parties.

Before dinner, guests slowly gather around the honesty bar by the pool. Yvonne and Carsten pour a drink, the first little bites arrive from the kitchen and suddenly people who were strangers that morning are sitting together, talking about travel, food and life.

Then everyone comes together around the table.

No anonymous hotel buffet.
No disappearing into separate corners.

Just a handful of guests, regional ingredients, Andalusian flavours, good w**e and conversations that somehow last much longer than dinner itself.

The food stays close to the traditions of Andalusia and southern Spain. Vegetarian options are possible, while the kitchen deliberately focuses on regional products rather than trying to become everything for everyone.

And yes — that includes traditional Spanish Ibérico.

This is what makes Cortijo El Sarmiento near Mojácar different from a typical hotel on the Costa de Almería.

It feels personal.

A little like staying with friends who happen to know exactly where to eat, what to drink and how to make complete strangers feel at home around the same table.
