Roland and Gabriele live in the village of Strodehne, 100 kilometers from Berlin.
During their residency at Casa3, Roland worked on a book composed of materials collected in the village. He asks questions such as: What do these materials reveal—through contrast—about the place, its structure, and its atmosphere? Do these materials tell stories when presented in book form, or do they remain autonomous and silent? He also created a conceptual film during his stay in Polopos. Both the book and the film will be presented this Friday at Casa3.
Gabriele is interested in daily life in the village and the social structure of the Polopos community. During her stay, she has explored parallels and differences regarding rural life in her own village in Brandenburg, as well as the potential for developing cultural cooperation between Polopos and Strodehne.
As an artistic project accompanying and documenting her research in Polopos, she has created daily drawings depicting dialogues with the village’s inhabitants.
