People often ask us: what's the quality of the (tap) water in Asturias?
So I wrote a little article about it.

In general, tap water in Asturias is considered good and healthy. However, these claims are often based on subjective factors such as taste and clarity.
Our experience is less positive. Besides the fact that sediment can occasionally build up in the pipelines of any water network, there are risks such as residues of pesticides and herbicides, particularly in agricultural and livestock areas like the remote regions of Asturias. Nitrates and nitrites can be highly damaging to our health, especially for babies, as they hinder proper oxygen transport in the blood.
Agriculture and livestock farming also frequently result in contamination with E. coli bacteria and livestock-related viruses.
The excessive use of chlorine during the COVID period has also left a mark. While chlorine itself is not inherently unhealthy, overexposure can increase the risk of cancer.
And we haven’t even touched on PFAS (forever chemicals) or traces of drugs and medications, which are increasingly found in drinking water, particularly near urban areas.
Specifically for Asturias, we must also consider the natural presence of arsenic. You can’t taste it, nor see it, but it is particularly harmful to our health.
Additionally, there are major risks due to the aging infrastructure of the water network in Asturias. Lead pipes, leaks, and contamination of storage tanks are common issues.
All these factors can easily slip through the gaps of lax water quality control.
Our advice? Always filter your drinking water – even bottled water.

Exploring new horizons with the launch of our new products for waterfiltering...

When we lived in Belgium, we were selling water filtration systems for tap water for over 15 years. We tested and tried out just about everything ourselves and recently came across a very efficient nano-membrane filtration method that originates from industrial applications and has been adapted for small-scale and household use.

In short, there are the following systems:
- A filter straw for drinking on the go
- A jerry can for use on the go or as an emergency solution
- A filter for the countertop, connected to the faucet
- An under-sink filter connected to the kitchen faucet water supply
- Professional filters for restaurants, hotels, health centers, sports centers, etc.

The unique feature of the nano filter systems is that they all have a backwash function that allows them to be cleaned. So the filters last a long time (between 5 and 10 years) compared to traditional carbon filters...

Additionally, the systems do not require electricity, just sufficient water pressure. This is very convenient for use at home as well as on the go. For any type of water: from the river, stream, rainwater, suspect tap water, etc.

You know the feeling? Those clammy trembling hands when you expose yourself to others? So very vulnerable and fragile and naked and with a small heart and all?

Well, yesterday it was like that. For I introduced the RAFFHAAR family to the world. A project that had been in my head for decades. Such a big fat thought worm that kept wriggling. Until a few months ago, I could no longer bear the brain wriggling and rather needed hand wriggling.
That's how some of those weird thoughts finally became reality. Radiant, mystical creatures that had been living in my head for years were born....
And how beautiful they are. How just wonderful they are. How wonderful they are...
Well, in my own little world, anyway.

I hope you will join me in this magical world.

Because apparently I find it exciting and very important what you think of my creations.
Whether you feel their birth.
Whether you feel the same as I do when I let my mind's tickle take its course.
Whether you feel uncomfortable when they look intrusively at you.
Whether you see their world.

I'd love to hear it. Because I'm going to keep creating them, these little creatures. You'll hear about it later.
