🍷 What a fabulous Sunday, if you are looking for great day trip from Lo Pagán? Discover Jumilla! 🏰
With the weather a little windy by the coast we decided to venture inland!
Just over an hour’s drive from Lo Pagán, the rustic wine town of Jumilla makes for a fantastic day out, combining history, stunning views, great food, and of course, excellent wine.
Our recent visit started with a climb up to the impressive Jumilla Castle, where the panoramic views across the surrounding countryside were well worth the effort. We then explored the charming old town, including a stroll up to the historic Iglesia Mayor de Santiago.
No trip to Jumilla would be complete without sampling the local wines, so our next stop was Bodegas Luzón, one of the area’s most established wineries, where we enjoyed learning about the region’s famous Monastrell wines and the winemaking traditions that have shaped Jumilla for generations.
For lunch, we headed to La Macarena Bar de Vinos, a local favourite serving delicious tapas paired perfectly with local wines. Established in 1939, it’s a wonderful spot to experience authentic Jumilla hospitality.
To round off the afternoon, we treated ourselves to coffee and ice cream at Restaurante de Loreto before taking one last wander through the town’s picturesque streets.
If you’re staying with us and fancy exploring beyond the coast, Jumilla is a day trip we highly recommend. Great wine, rich history, beautiful architecture, and fantastic food—all within easy reach of Lo Pagán.
