🍂 ¿Sabías que Sevilla tiene dos ferias? 🍂

Todos conocemos la Feria de Abril, pero pocos recuerdan su hermana otoñal: la Feria (hoy Velá) de San Miguel, cuyo origen se remonta a mediados del siglo XIII.

Cuando el rey Alfonso X El Sabio concedió a la ciudad el privilegio de celebrar dos ferias al año, lo hizo para impulsar su repoblación tras la conquista. Nació así, ligada a la festividad de San Miguel Arcángel el 29 de septiembre, como cierre festivo del verano sevillano.

En sus comienzas, ésta era una feria de ganado y productos agrícolas. Con el paso de los años fue ganando espíritu festero, hasta convertirse en la Velá popular que hoy se vive en el Muelle de la Sal: casetas, flamenco, sevillanas y buena gastronomía a orillas de nuestro río Guadalquivir.

📅 Este año, la Velá de San Miguel se celebra del 25 al 29 de septiembre de 2026 en Sevilla.

🍂 Did you know Seville has two ferias? 🍂

Everyone knows the Feria de Abril, but few remember its autumn sister: the Feria (now Velá) de San Miguel, whose origins date back to the mid-13th century.

When King Alfonso X the Wise granted the city the privilege of holding two ferias a year, he did it to help repopulate Seville after the conquest. That's how it was born, tied to the feast of the Archangel Michael on September 29th, as the festive send-off to Seville's summer.

In its early days, it was a livestock and agricultural fair. Over the years it took on a more festive spirit, evolving into the popular Velá we enjoy today at the Muelle de la Sal: casetas, flamenco, sevillanas, and great food along our Guadalquivir river.

📅 This year, the Velá de San Miguel runs from September 25th to 29th, 2026, in Seville.
