Yurts Tarifa

Yurts Tarifa Yurt camp on family farm Tarifa, Spain. Campamento de yurtas en finca familiar. drive, 35 min. walk or 10 min. bike ride away.

Our handmade yurts form part of a family run farm, 3km from Tarifa, Costa de la Luz, Andalucia, Spain - the wind and kite surfing Mecca of Europe. We offer three beautifully furnished yurts (handcrafted by us) with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. The 5 hectare farm overlooks the Straight of Gibraltar and Morocco and is home to a host of friendly animals, an organic veggie garden and our yo

ung family. We like our guests to feel at home, enjoy the freshly laid eggs and help themselves to homegrown fruit from the trees. It´s the perfect base from which to experience our sustainable lifestyle, as well as for walking, bike riding, birdwatching and all the attractions of nearby Tarifa (wind and kite surfing, rock climbing, nightlife, whale watching, horse riding, etc.), only a 10 min. The yurts are the perfect way to enjoy the proximity of nature with all the creature comforts of a hostel. With cool tiled floors, a hobbit like wooden door opening onto natural park and all the ambience of a round nomadic dwelling, the yurts are more luxury than camping! Each yurt sleeps up to 4 people with one double bed and two singles, and plenty of room to move around! They have roll up windows to increase air flow, and show off the view, and are double insulated and attractively lined to maintain an agreeable temperature, whatever the weather. Each yurt opens onto lovely gardens and has its own picnic table. The recycled and sustainable timber framed bathrooms and kitchen facilities, within the yurt gardens, are decorated with the same homely style. We are proud to say that all installations, including our water system, are powered by solar and wind generated electricity, bringing us one step closer to self sufficiency. Wherever possible we have tried to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum without sacrificing quality or comfort. Every guest automatically contributes to our association (deducted from the reservation fee) which is dedicated to improving the relationship between visitors and nature. We are constantly investing in bettering our surroundings to attract and protect wildlife and help you appreciate our unique surroundings.

Theres always a rebel in the chicken coop (or two).

These two escaped chickens are very clever and have evaded discovery for weeks ...

We see them all day long, happily de
-bugging the veggie garden but also eating all the brassicas!!

However, as soon as dusk falls, it's pretty tricky to work out where they roost. And where they lay their precious eggs!

The electric fence around the luxury mobile chicken house is supposed to keep them safe, but there are always a couple of rebels. Intent on staying free and wild. Until they get eaten by a fox or a mongoose.

We managed to grab one, and get her back with the gang. But this beautiful bantam is too wily for us.

She can be my slug control, but i feel she is lonely and since her unfertilised eggs will never hatch, she will eventually be grateful to be returned to the safety of the coop.

It is a fine balance between managing and leaving nature to do its thing.

Every year our collection of Eline's painted pebbles grows and is a lovely reminder of their beautiful little family that we welcome here every year.

It is a real validation of our efforts when guests return year after, making Yurts Tarifa a part of their chidren's memories and allowing us to be a part of their growing up and exploring the world.

Look forward to seeing you all again next year!

We are back online! We have bidden farewell to our last wedding guests and are still reeling from all the love and laughter.

We were such an amazing team and pulled off the best day with barely a hitch. Getting rain soaked during the ceremony just made it more dramatic and magical.

We are so priveledged to have so many beautiful people in our lives and it really was a culmination of everyone's effort.

All you need is love...

Special thanks to

Yep, I'm uninstalling Instagram from my phone until our wedding is over.

We have a million things to do, firends and family arriving soon and I am constantly distracted by this "need" to stay in touch.

Everything has it's time and place and now is for focusing on creating a wonderful week of memories with the people I love most in the world.

I will throw myself into sharing our beautiful space with the world when it's all over. For now I want to fully enjoy the process.

See ya!

Loquats are such a pain to peel!

Nísperos (loquats) are fantastically tasty and such a lovely colour but sooo much work to stone and peel.

Now I have enough jam to last the season's beeakfasts I don't mind sharing some fruit with the birds.

Every year our fruit trees bear something to make jam out of of but some produce nothing at all.... You have to take it while you can.

Hopefully will get some easy to jam figs later in the year.

Wait to see where Misty the dog gets her name!

In the rain we can appreciate even more the connection to nature afforded by staying in a yurt. You can hear the animals rejoicing, the gentle patter of water on the roof.

When you leave your cosy yurt to make a cup of tea in the kitchen you really appreciate the privelage of a roof over your head. A hot shower. Wifi and electricity.

Living this close to to the elements puts everything into perspective.

Yurts Tarifa is open for season 2026!

We always underestimate how much there is to do, but are finally satisfied and have made a few little improvements to keep things feeling fresh and new for ourselves, as much as for the guests.

When your work is your lifestyle it's impossible to separate the two. I think the passion we feel for our land shines through in the yurts, the gardens and the installations and we are so proud to reopen every year after the winter.

We have had a proper, wet winter so the spring is especially welcome and appreciated this year.

We are looking forward to showing it all off!

Holidays always scratch an itch to see what else is out there, but coming home is also a wonderful feeling.

To belong in a place and feel the need to get our hands back in the soil, hear the familiar sounds of birds, cattle, frogs, wind is a real privelidge we do not take for granted.

So here we go - ready for another season (our 15th) and all the lovely people we will meet!
