This year’s Feria de Abril Gate rises like a luminous bridge between past and present — inspired by the 1929 Portuguese Pavilion and the royal tiles of the Alcázar, glowing with thousands of lights ready to wake the city.

Seville is not just visited, it’s felt. And one of its most iconic places is the old Royal To***co Factory, now home to the University of Seville.

Within its walls was born the story of Carmen, the free-spirited and defiant woman who inspired Bizet’s famous opera. It was here that the cigarreras worked—strong, resilient women who hand-rolled to***co while unknowingly becoming a symbol of female independence in the 19th century.

Life inside the factory was intense: hundreds of women, constant noise, the scent of to***co, and an energy impossible to forget. This essence was captured in the painting Las Cigarreras by Gonzalo de Bilbao, portraying their strength, their daily life, and their social reality.

Today, that same spirit still lives on in every corner of Seville. And from Casa Arena, we invite you to discover it slowly—walking, feeling, and letting yourself be carried away by its history.
