Best tapas bar in Murcia, by far. A visit to Bar Verónicas is mandatory if you enjoy tapas in general and are looking for a gourmet touch on these classical Spanish dishes. We always pay a visit when coming to the region. The owner and chef, Samuel Ruíz, used to work at El Bullí, which explains part of the great taste experience. Sharing some photos from last week’s tapas session.

Have you tried the on site restaurant Vinoteca at the Hilton? We have, and we highly recommend a visit. High quality food and a great view when sitting outside. Several of the dishes on the repertoire are made with local specialities and/or ingredients, which makes for an exciting menu.

Wine tip of the day: did you know that there is a great quality wine bodega just around the corner from La Torre? Bodega Madrid Romero, run by third generation winemaker Rosana, has its production facilities in Los Infiernos, a mere ten minutes drive from the resort. You can pop by to buy wine at the bodega store, but you can also book guided tastings and food pairing activities. The vineyards are located in Jumilla, Bullas and Yecla, but the fermented and final results from the grape picking are just around the corner. Highly recommended visit for all wine lovers!

Still (probably) the best street churros in the world. Angel’s van is located nearby Playa Levante, next to the police station. Well worth the ride from La Torre.

Here are som photos from the Gastronomic Fair in Murcia, which ended this Monday. Highly recommend to visit if you have the opportunity next year. Plenty of exhibitors and innovative tapas to be tasted. It’s difficult to pick a favourite but the pulpo a la murciana was really nice. As opposed to the classic pulpo a la gallega, the Murcian version is cooked in the oven with wine or beer. Later this month the yearly Spanish Michelin Guide Gala will be hosted in Murcia. It’s really fun to see that the region’s gastronomy is making footprints on Spain’s culinary map.
