So a very busy couple of weeks working round guests to carry on building the never ending wall, Carl only fell off the ladder once and luckily walked away! We're physically and mentally knackered but it's getting there, just got to decide what to do at the top now!!

So this little lot have been making sure all our guests have a good breakfast before they go out for the day, especially all the 'Camino de Santiago' hikers we have had recently. Carls so impressed he's actually planning their new houses and runs!! 🥰🥳👌🐔🐓🐤 it's hard to believe the original lot are coming upto 7 years old and still adding their fair share of eggs 🥚🪺😍

So after the longest winter ever 😬 work has finally begun to rebuild the walls outside, unfortunately Carl still had to take down his top wall that hadn't fallen down as it was making it difficult to get to certain areas, but never mind, we've done it once so we can do it again! I've helped where I can, which isn't much unfortunately but he's still soldiered on. I'm in charge of refreshments and collecting materials, which is fine when the car works but this week that's been another problem we didn't need and ive been back and forth to the garage trying to get it fixed 🫣 Got to collect materials Monday morning before it goes back yet again!! We'll plod on though as the suns finally shining so makes you feel a bit better doesn't it 🥰 only the roof to fix, perimeter fence to replace, driveway to concrete, downstairs to do yearly maintenance, paint all of upstairs and a few other bits left to do 🤣🤣 He'll be fine 🦸‍♂️

WRC2026 done!! After a suspended first round, thanks to a bunch of idiots, walking up and down twice, they finally passed us on the second attempt, filmed Takamoto and Elfyn then gave up as they are SO fast!! Great atmosphere, met lovely people again and can't wait for next year!!

So 3 days off has resulted in the land finally being prepared and planted, the first delivery ready to start repairing the damaged walls, lunch with the chuckers 🐔 2 bbqs with meat from the amazing butchers in San Mateo, a couple of well earned beers and some lovely walks with the lizard hunting putbull princess oh and Carls cleared all of the top garden so it looks nice and tidy for our guests (I will post photos, i just forgot to take some) 🫣🤣🥰

Well after the week of weather we have just had these are a welcome sight 😍 yes we all knew Therese was coming over 3 weeks ago, we were warned to prepare for the worst, batten down the hatches as they say and in true Brit fashion here at Casa Azul we did just that, extra wood ready for the fire, plenty of extra food, warm clothes, towels, and blankets all prepared for us and the guests downstairs. It was a week of check, check and double check and we were ready .......... or so we thought 🤔
Therese arrived and made it a little difficult then sat back and thought I'll have another go!! She was determined to make sure everyone suffered, we can honestly say we have never seen anything like it, landslides right in front of us that were like watching a movie, flash floods that really did start to make us worry, 100 year old stone walls just falling down like they were made of cardboard, roads completely impassable but we made it through. Yes we have lost a bit of land, and we've found a few more cracks in the house that have let some water through but we will rebuild eventually, every where will dry out and be repainted, the chickens will eventually be mud free 🙄 and things will go back to normal but I know we will always remember the winter of 2026, the year Therese came to visit!! Character Building I think they call it!! 🫣

Ok so after a bit of a crappy winter we are looking for some help 🦾 in exchange for accommodation and food we are looking for help with some repairs, you would need to be physically fit, not scared of heights or ladders. All we ask is some help in the mornings then the rest of the day is yours to explore the Gran Canaria mountains and the whole island or I am happy to be your island guide! Would be looking at May / June, the apartment sleeps 4 (1 double / 2 single beds) so fill as you wish, anyone interested please message me and I will let you know full details of what needs doing 😊 thank you 🥰 oh and you get lots of Pittie kisses 😍😍
