Lunar Cable Park Cuevas – A Fantastic Family Day Out.
We recently had a fantastic family day out at Lunar Cable Park near Almería. We tried the wakeboarding, had fun on the inflatable water park and enjoyed some relaxing time at the beach bar.

The Origin of the Name
The town’s name tells its own story. “San Juan” honors Saint John the Baptist, while “de los Terreros” refers to the rocky, terraced lands surrounding the village. Together, it’s “Saint John of the Lands”—a nod to both faith and geography that reflects the town’s deep historical roots.

We bought Finca Arboleda in late 2003 and moved in the following year with the aim of creating a quality holiday rental in Vera, Almería. The self-contained area — which later became the Orange Grove Apartment after we added a bedroom — originally featured a small kitchen with an indoor BBQ. We refurbished it in 2006 and, for a budget kitchen, it’s served our guests very well over the years.
Now we’re excited to announce Stage 3 of the Orange Grove Apartment upgrade, bringing even better comfort and facilities for future visitors to Finca Arboleda.

We installed the 2006 kitchen ourselves, but this time we brought in the professionals at Homes and Beyond in Garrucha, and they’ve done a fantastic job. As part of the upgrade they also improved the electrics, which means we can now add a combi microwave oven and an air fryer to what was already a well-equipped kitchen.

A Surprising Guest by the Pool – A Chameleon in the Fig Tree!
One of the many joys of staying at Finca Arboleda is the connection with nature — and sometimes, that connection includes surprise visitors!
Recently, some of our guests were relaxing by the swimming pool when they spotted a beautiful chameleon climbing through the fig tree beside them. They managed to capture a short video of this shy little creature, and it’s too lovely not to share.

Chameleons are known for their camouflage and slow, careful movements. They’re not always easy to spot, so this was a rare and exciting treat. At Finca Arboleda, we’re lucky to be surrounded by nature, and moments like this remind us of the peaceful, unspoiled environment we call home. You will often see Tortoises and Hedgehogs in the garden and of course there are Hoopoes and Bee Eaters to marvel at. You will also see Birds of prey and the occasional Little Owl.
