El Establo now has a 3 seater sofa and one armchair instead of the two seater and two armchairs - it fits better we think 😊. Lily isn't taking it to Nerja so it made sense to swap it and we'll have the smaller sofa in our kitchen. We have also swapped the king size bed upstairs for a super king which can also be divided into two singles, giving more flexibility . We will make a nice panelled headboard once we have a long enough gap in guests. Bonnie had her feet trimmed this morning and naughty granddad wrapped the girls up in cling film after they watched him wrap a mattress for storage 🤣. Matilda's doll had a problem with her eye which grandad had to fix in his repair shop, of course he also made an eye patch and told Matilda it had to stay on for a few days while the eye healed 🥰. We had one of these horrible centipedes on the kitchen floor this morning!

Our beautiful El Jaral apartment is available from October 2026. Perfect for 1 or two people, with one bedroom, small living room and shower room upstairs ( not suitable for people with mobility issues) . Downstairs is a gorgeous fully equipped kitchen with dining table. A sun room links the apartment to the main farmhouse where there is an additional guest bedroom and shower room if more space is needed. The apartment has it's own entrance but is accessed through the farmhouse courtyard. You will have full use of this lovely courtyard area with dining and relaxing areas and gas BBQ. Though this is technically a shared courtyard with us, we have our own courtyard at the front of the house and will do our best not to disturb you. Due to the close proximity to us, this apartment is only available to people we already know 😊.

We did an early morning ride yesterday with Twiggy and Sierra and in the evening we went to a local restaurant Talillas for dinner and a band, it was a great night. Olive is so long and lean, I caught her standing up trying to catch a cricket. Bella was guarding the rock pool 🥰. Poor Lola has a really nasty mouth ulcer on the inside of her lip. It's making eating difficult and yesterday we decided to call the vet. He said it's a common problem, even a piece of seed can cause it and coincidentally he was called out to the same problem that morning. He had to cut all the sore tissue out and stitched the hole up with a double row of stitches crisscrossing for extra strength so that it hopefully holds as of course Lola has to eat and also, it's virtually impossible for us to clean it or give any further treatment as she rears up, her strength is impressive at her grand old age. We have to soak her hay and we're giving her moist feeds of soaked alfalfa pellets several times a day to try to keep her calories up as she is already skinny. We have to wash her mouth with a hose and then a salt solution after meals which really isn't fun 🤣. Guests left this morning after a three week stay in El Establo, they left a lovely review in the guest book. Today we took Lily and the girls to Nerja with a trailer full of things, making a start on their move. Carlotta was brushing up on her Spanish ready for starting school next week. After off loading the trailer we had a lovely morning at the beach - Clive even went in the sea!

We've ticked off lots more jobs today ahead of our UK trip next week. It's still so hot! Mid 30's shade temperatures and very warm at night too, so we have to pace ourselves. I'm sticking to my 50 lengths to cool down after doing the horses, even when it's only 8.30 am, it's so warm! Clive got up on the roof before the sun came over the mountain, to make sure everything was ok ready for the first rain, whenever that may be. There's always tiles overturned by cats ( and even foxes!) and cracks to fill, due to our lovely clay soil! Tea break meant making mango chutney, the kitchen smells so delicious 😋. Then the oleanders at the front of the house needed to be trimmed. The girls helped me clean tack and tidy the tack room before chilling out indoors making a den . Lucky has the right idea, keeping cool in the outside kitchen marble sink in the shade of the grape vine. This beautiful sunset photo popped up from 4 years ago - no enhancement - that sky was real! We've received another lovely review from guests who recently left the secret garden 🥰. The annual village fiesta starts on the 11th and the fancy dress parade on the 12th is like nothing you've ever witnessed! - it goes on forever.

It has turned hot again but the sky is beautifully clear and blue. The last two days of August have been busy, with early morning rides, a changeover in the secret garden, cleaning the solar panels after all the summer dust and trimming Lucy's feet. I've been keeping up my daily 50 lengths, no hardship really 😁. We've been busy painting our apartment, it's looking lovely 😍. Olive is funny, she has spent the whole summer sleeping in the exact place in the shade of the palm tree 🌴, I wonder why she likes this spot?
