That's another summer season done as the last guests have just left. A great success once again. It is probably the last too, so thank you to the 95% of guests who've been a pleasure to host & who have made it a pleasant & worthwhile experience, getting to know interesting people from all over the world.

No thanks at all to any public body in Spain or Asturias, who have always done their utmost to make it difficult & who seem to exist only to thwart any sign of independence or initiative.

Now to "relax" in Gijón with a bit of . Ciao.

Well, here we are again, the start of the Villa María season. First guests arrive tomorrow & then 6 weeks of hard work & meeting people from all over Spain, Europe & beyond. Lucky is looking forward to welcoming guests too!

Last guests arriving today. As of tomorrow, we are closed & I can finally relax. I've met lots of very nice people who seem to have enjoyed staying here. Though it does feel like all I've done is clean, wash & dry bedding & towels & serve breakfasts for 6 weeks! Until next year.

Genuine question:

A guest booked (2 months ago) a 4 night stay (starting this Wednesday 23rd). They booked the cheaper, non-refundable option. Today they requested to move the booking (due to illness). I refused, 1. because I have no time to try to get a new booking for their original dates so I will be out of pocket & 2. because they booked the money-saving option which, as far as I'm concerned, is not only non-refundable but also not movable - if you want the benefits of cancelling or changing - pay the full price.

Am I unreasonable? The client has complained to the website. Personally, if I booked a non-refundable room I wouldn't even ask to move it/change it. It would be my own bad luck/karma for scrimping/being tight.
