🚕 TAXIS IN PLAYA BLANCA

Our advice and experience

⸻

❗ THE BASICS
• There is ONE taxi company in Playa Blanca
• There are NO Uber, Bolt or Lyft services
• There is an app for the taxi company…
👉 We personally don’t use it, and rarely see it used reliably

⸻

📍 WHERE TO FIND THEM most popular taxi ranks for us are
• Town centre (next to the Old Mill Irish Pub)
• Marina (by Koala Bay & entrance barriers)

👉 At busy times, queues can be long and slow moving

⸻

⏱ REALITY CHECK
• We do not book taxis in advance
• We do not ask how long they will be

👉 From years of experience… this system is not reliable enough to depend on timing

⸻

🚨 WHY IS IT LIKE THIS?
• There is no competition
• The resort has grown faster than the taxi service capacity

👉 Demand regularly exceeds supply, especially evenings

⸻

📞 HOW TO CALL A TAXI

📱 0034 928 524 222
1. You will hear a recorded message first
2. Wait until a human answers
3. Say clearly:
👉 “Taxi for [number of people] at [YOUR ADDRESS]”

⚠️ Important:
• Give a physical address, not a villa name
• Do NOT say where you are going
• Only say where you are

⸻

🚶‍♂️ WHEN THE TAXI ARRIVES
• Be ready and waiting outside
• Enter the taxi clean and dry

🚫 No sand
🚫 No wet clothes
🚫 No food or drinks
🚫 No smoking or va**ng
🚫 No bare chests or bare feet

👉 You must be wearing a top and shoes

⸻

📍 INSIDE THE TAXI
• Tell the driver clearly where you want to go
• If possible, show the address on your phone

👉 This avoids confusion and language issues

⸻

⚠️ IMPORTANT

👉 Seatbelts must be worn front and back – it’s the law in Spain

⸻

💶 PAYMENT
• Taxis prefer cash
• Card is not always guaranteed

👉 We personally always round up or tip around 10%

⸻

CALLING A TAXI TO THE RESTAURANT • better to walk to the nearest rank, but if you are calling a taxi do it at least 40 mins before your table reservation

GETTING A TAXI HOME - as of October 2026 our guests have been waiting anything from 2 mins to 20 mins to, well in excess of an hour, for the taxi, that we have called, to get them home. Whilst its a pleasure to do this for you, and especially useful for those with walking difficulties, we highly recommend going to the rank if the taxi seems to be taking more than 20 mins, the rank is a few mins walk away.

⸻

💡 FINAL TIP

👉 Check your seat before you get out

If you leave something behind:
• It can take days to recover
• You will need to go through the taxi office
• It adds pressure to an already overstretched service

🚨 RYANAIR'S NEW RULES FROM NOVEMBER — BUT DO YOU ACTUALLY NEED TO WORRY?

Another travel headline is making a change sound alarming, so let's look at what is ACTUALLY happening. 👇

✈️ WHAT'S CHANGING?

From 10 November 2026, Ryanair's airport check-in desks and bag-drop services will close 60 minutes before departure, instead of 40 minutes. That's 20 minutes earlier than before.

But here's the important bit…

🧳 WHO WILL BE AFFECTED?

If you're checking in a suitcase at the airport, you'll need to make sure you've dropped it off before the new 60-minute deadline.

Ryanair says around 20% of its passengers check in bags, and these are the travellers the change is primarily intended to help by giving them more time to get through security and passport control.

📱 WHO WON'T BE AFFECTED?

If you've checked in online and are travelling with just hand luggage, Ryanair says your usual process remains unchanged. You can head straight to security when you arrive at the airport.

⏰ WILL ONLINE CHECK-IN CHANGE?

No. Online check-in remains available through the Ryanair website or app until two hours before departure.

⚠️ WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

If you're flying with checked luggage, plan ahead and make sure you meet the earlier deadline. Missing the check-in deadline could mean being denied boarding without a refund.

THE BOTTOM LINE: This isn't a completely new check-in system for every passenger. It's a change to the airport check-in and bag-drop closing time.

As always, check the latest official guidance before you travel.
