Have you heard of NOCHE DE LOS FINAOS?

I love Lanzarote’s local traditions and I want to share them with our Casa Havn guests too.

In Belgium, we remember loved ones who have passed away on 1 November.
Around the same time, Lanzarote has its own tradition:
'Noche de los Finaos'
Families gather to share memories and stories of those they miss with roasted chestnuts and sweet w**e.

In nearby Femés, the tradition lives on through hot chocolate, open-air theatre and Canarian music.

I haven’t experienced it myself yet.
It’s on my list!
These customs are part of the Lanzarote I love and something I’d like you to discover during your stay at Casa Havn.

Carnival lovers, save the date! 🎭

Playa Blanca Carnival returns from 4 to 7 March 2027 and this year’s theme already sounds like a party: Latin Rhythms!

Expect four days of colour, music and dancing with the big Carnival parade planned for Saturday 6 March.

And yes… Casa Havn is still available! ☀️

I LOVE cycling on this incredible island!

And this weekend it’s Vuelta Ciclista a Lanzarote!

Volcanic landscapes, long open roads, proper climbs, sea views… and yes, that Lanzarote wind that can make you work a little harder than planned.

For me, that’s part of what makes the island so special. There’s always another road, another climb or another view worth getting on the bike for.

And after a day out riding? Back to Casa Havn in Playa Blanca, bike parked, legs up, jump in the pool and time to enjoy the comfort of the house. That’s for me a perfect day!

Yep, we have an island next to our island…

Did you know that from Casa Havn you can easily spend a day exploring beautiful La Graciosa?

Drive to Órzola, hop on the ferry and just 25 minutes later you’re on a tiny island with sandy streets, turquoise waters, volcanic landscapes and gorgeous white beaches.

Definitely one for your Lanzarote bucket list!

Mmmm… this is my kind of moment….

A lovely glass of white w**e from Bodega Rubicón, looking out over the unique vineyards of La Geria… and then watching the sun slowly disappear behind the mountains.

It’s so quiet.
So peaceful.
… almost impossible to describe just how beautiful it is.

This is island life.
Or maybe… your next holiday!

And all of this is just a 15-minute drive from Casa Havn.

Steffi Hofman and I met someone famous today!!!

Today, during our ride through Haría, Steffi and I stopped at the statue of the famous barber El Mudo.

A few minutes later, something unexpected happened…

We met the man himself!!!

At 94 years old, Ladislao Rodríguez Bonilla is still a beloved figure in Haría. Seeing the statue was special, but meeting him in person, sitting in his doorway and welcoming us with a smile, was something else entirely.

These are the moments that make Lanzarote so unique. Not just the landscapes, but the people and the stories behind them.

A true legend of Haría. What an honour. 🙏
