Tänään vietetään Itämeripäivää!

John Nurmisen Säätiön käynnistämää ja koordinoimaa Itämeripäivää vietetään vuosittain aina elokuun viimeisenä torstaina erilaisten tapahtumien ja tempausten parissa. Teemapäivän tavoitteena on nostaa esille tärkeitä merellisiä aiheita ja innostaa tekemään konkreettisia tekoja Itämeren hyväksi.

Päivä juhlistaa meren monimuotoisuutta ja mittaamatonta arvoa. Juhlinnan lisäksi tavoitteena on lisätä tietoa meren luonnosta, kulttuurista ja historiasta. Merten hyvinvoinnin huomioiminen on tärkeä osa Green Key, Green Activities ja Blue Flag –sertifioitujen matkailuyritysten arkea. Esimerkiksi tarjoiluissa ei käytetä kertakäyttöastioita- tai ruokailuvälineitä ja tarjotut kala- ja äyriäislajit on pyydetty kestävästi.

Today we celebrate Baltic Sea Day!

John Nurminen Foundation has founded the Baltic Sea Day to be annually celebrated on the last Thursday of August. The day is celebrated with all kinds of events and activities. On this theme day important topics regarding the sea will be brought up as well as tangible acts for the benefit of the Baltic Sea will be encouraged.

The day celebrates the diversity of the sea as well as its pricelessness. In addition to celebration, the goal is to raise awareness of the sea's nature, culture and history. Being aware of the sea's well-being is an important part of the Green Key, Green Activities and Blue Flag -certified tourism companies' day-to-day. For example not using disposable utensils or plates, and served fish and shellfish have been caught in a sustainable way.
